She was crying her eyes out. Seeing the man lying in a pool of blood, she passed out straight away. 

Maja stood not too far away, too scared to come closer. 

She could feel the resentment radiating from Connie’s gaze. 

She opened her mouth but couldn’t find the words to say. 

She quickly took off her coat and handed it to lan. 

She wanted to explain, but lan wrapped Connie in the coat and walked out without a word. 

Maja stood there, realizing this would be a heartache for the Raymond family. The distance between her and lan felt like it had suddenly expanded to a whole galaxy. 

The room was thick with tension, and the man had been tormenting Connie for a while, at least for forty minutes. 

The other kidnappers in the building had been dealt with, but this one had stayed in this room and thus was not discovered in time. 

Maja followed lan, her heart‘ heavy. When they reached the lobby on the first floor, they found that the door was already open, and the police were methodically working on the scene. 

lan had Connie taken to the ambulance, instructing the doctors to do a full body check. 

After all, she had been violated, and it was uncertain whether the man had any diseases. 

Just as he finished saying this, a call from the Raymond family came through. It was from Holden Raymond.

lan filled him in on Connie’s situation.

lan nodded, then was asked, 

“Why did you suddenly go to Crystalbrook Valley?” 

He made up some excuse and brushed it off. Upon hearing, Holden said, “Maja’s hometown is Crystalbrook Valley. With such a big incident happening there, she must be concerned. I should call her to see if she’s in Crystalbrook Valley!” 

lan squinted. He had no previous knowledge of this woman and didn’t even know where she was from. 

But hearing Holden say this, his heart skipped a beat. 

“Maja, she’s also from Crystalbrook Valley?” 

He sounded indifferent, his hand gripping the phone tightly. 

But Holden didn’t want to talk to him anymore. 

After hanging up, lan fell into deep thought. 

The area around the building was still in chaos, and the kidnapped hostages were gradually being rescued.

Maja was worried about being caught on camera, so she found a hidden place to hide. 

lan soon came over and pulled her into a car.
