Chapter 17

It was early in the morning. Astrid came down from upstairs and saw Eddy standing at the door in sportswear.

"Good morning, Astrid."

"| thought you would sleep in."

“Astrid, | will try my best to be more capable so that | can protect you."

Eddy noticed that Blaze seemed to be mad at Astrid because of the divorce. He was afraid that Astrid would get hurt.

“Don't worry, silly. He can't do anything to me. He felt his authority challenged when | took the initiative to file for the divorce."

"Really?"

“What else could it be? Am | really that bad in your eyes?"

As Astrid was speaking, she already ran for several hundred meters.

Blaze was a powerful man, but she was no pushover either.

What was there to be afraid of?

Astrid was sweaty after running 20 kilometers, and her beautiful face flushed. Eddy lay on the bench beside the road panting like hell after only running five kilometers.

After breakfast, Eddy wore a suit and got ready to leave.

Astrid gestured a love sign to him.

After Eddy left, Astrid turned on her laptop and checked her emails. It was time for her to start working. There were over 100 unread emails in her inbox, and over half of them were from the laboratory, urging her to return.

[I'll come back this afternoon.] Astrid tapped to reply to the email, and her phone rang shortly.

“Astrid, I'm glad you are finally coming back. We've been looking forward to it for a long time."

"Why?"

“Since you left three years ago, our project got stuck. Professor Jaden is driving us crazy. If you don't come back, we may lose our jobs."

"What's the problem?"

"We cant make any breakthrough in the key technology. I've sent you a set of data. You take a look."

"Okay. I'll check it."

“You must come in the afternoon, or we will be dead."

Astrid hung up the phone, entered a system, decrypted the data sent by her colleague, and began to check the original data package of the project.

She returned to the laboratory in the afternoon and worked with her colleagues until ten at night.

Mark called to ask her where she was. Only then did Astrid realize she had a plan tonight.

It was already half past ten when Astrid arrived at Greenstone Club.

There were five floors in Greenstone Club. The higher the floor was, the higher the consumption level was. The minimal consumption level on the top floor was two hundred thousand dollars. As Astrid was leaving the elevator, someone stopped her.

“Astrid, what are you doing here?"

It was Lilith and Josh. Their friend was having a birthday party here tonight. That was why they were here wearing formal dresses.
