Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 132

"I didn't know I've been waiting my entire life to see this," Carson says, trying to stifle laughter. I'm about to tell him to stop, but he holds his hand out. "Wait before you keep going. I need to record this." He reaches into his back pocket. "Axel, get it from the other side too."

"Don't get me into this," Axel says.

Aiden glares at Carson. "I'll kill you."

I rub my temples.

Carson literally starts recording.

Aiden narrows his eyes. "If you put that on snapchat."

"Oh no, this is for the personal records." Carson chuckles while getting a good angle. "This week on the Aiden files, watch as Aiden awkwardly tries to convey his emotions to Mia. And fails."

"Shut. Up." Aiden growls.

I try to keep a straight face. "Stop it, Carson." I wave for him to put the phone away.

He turns it towards me. "And here we have my beautiful, captivating, awe-inspiring mate, Mia."

I roll my eyes and put my hand in front of the camera. He takes my hand and kisses it, recording the whole thing.

Aiden stalks right up to him, snatching the phone away. "Do you not understand what stop means?"

Even I'm startled by the aggression in Aiden's voice, but Carson seems unphased. "I'm just trying to help you out, man," Carson smirks up at him, snatching his phone back.

They never break eye contact.

"Help me out?" Aiden asks.

Carson nods. "Yeah, because that was going nowhere."

Speaking of things going nowhere. I look at Axel for help, but he shakes his head. It's a clear warning, 'Don't get involved.' He sits back and just watches the trainwreck. I do the same.

Carson keeps digging his own grave. "Why don't you just tell her about that time you hopped out of bed half naked for her, because you thought she needed your help? That was so adorable. Girls go crazy over that kind of stuff."

If looks could kill.

I don't make eye contact with Aiden. I'm afraid to. I just give Carson a stern look before Aiden really does get the chance to kill him. "Look Carson, Aiden and I really need to have this conversation together," I say. I pat his hand and then nudge him back towards his seat. "Please don't bother him right now."

Carson nods. "Of course, I'm just... helping it along." He smiles and puts his phone away. This doesn't calm Aiden in the least, but at least he's closer now.

I think back to the kiss and my face gets hot. The Aiden that kissed me was... caring. He held me close, told me what I needed to here, was honest about his emotions. He said I was his. No one's ever told me that before. It didn't feel like ownership, it felt like protection. Like he wanted me. Where did that go?

I look up at him. He's staring at me with the same look he's giving Carson. My face falls. "I think if you'd just swallow your pride, this conversation could finally be over."

"It's not pride," he says. "I just don't need to answer a rhetorical question."
