Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 168

He opens his mouth, but I'm done.

I turn away and look back at the closed door.

"Are you really gonna act like this?" he asks.

I don't pay him any mind. "It's fine, Aiden. Just move so I can leave."

He doesn't move. He doesn't do anything I ever ask of him. He just stands there like a potato.

"What are you gonna do?" I ask sarcastically. "Imprison me here?"

He cocks his head back.

I cross my arms. "Just move out of the way. Your paperwork's calling you." When did I turn into the stereotypical wife, complaining that her husband's spending too much time in the office? It's how I feel right now. He's sleeping on the couch tonight.

He sighs, loudly, seemingly in disbelief. "You've gotta be kidding me..."

He took the words right out of my mouth.

He props an arm above our heads, leaning against the door frame. When speaks again, it seems like it takes everything in him to say these few words. "... You just want me to say how I feel?"

Instead of asking, he could've just used his energy to say it. "Yes," I say anyway.

"That's all you want?

"Yes," I say again.

"That would make you happy?" he asks again, which is so uncharacteristic of him.

I turn towards him. "Yes, Aiden. Yes. That would make me very happy." Who knows, maybe he'll say it.

He pauses. "Fine..." He leans down. Suddenly he's staring into my eyes, just a few inches away. "I think you look ridiculous arguing with me in that mask."

The cool air blowing against my face does nothing to cool the rage boiling inside me. I ball my hands into fists and ask as calmly as possible, "... That's how you feel?"

He nods. "That's how I feel," he concludes before standing back to his full height.

I do it without thinking. One second my hand snatches the mask off my face. The next, the wet material smacks onto his face, sticking to his skin with a disgustingly distinct slopping noise.

I don't know if that solved anything, but I grin widely.

He doesn't take it off immediately, He just lets it sit there, eyes closed. After a few seconds pass, he calmly asks, "Did that make you feel better?"

I burst out laughing. "Yes. Actually, it did." I pat the material against his face, really getting the antioxidants into there. "Thanks for asking."

"Are you enjoying yourself?" he asks.
