"No." He moves so that we're staring into each other's eyes. "Tell me. It's okay, I promise. I won't laugh."
I frown. "... You promise?"
He nods.
I sigh and lean towards him. I hesitate before whispering into his ear. "I... Well... You..." Abort mission! I swallow the lump growing in my throat.
He doesn't rush me whatsoever. Thankfully. That's when I realize this is Axel. This is my Axel that I can tell anything to (except the obvious like I'm doubting whether or not his pack is evil, but you know what I mean).
I trust him, and not only that, I feel comfortable with him. And safe with him. This might be too embarrassing with Aiden or Carson, but with Axel, I think I can do it. So I hold onto him and I finally say, "You're my alpha."
Wait... that came out wrong! My eyes fly open.
I smack my forehead, stuttering out, "I meant, I know you're an alpha. Of this pack, I know that you're one of the alphas, you know?" I laugh awkwardly, burying my face against his chest. Put me out of my misery.
Instead of holding me like I think he will, he nudges me away from him, looking away.
My face falls. "Axel?"
His face is beet red. He tries to speak, but nothing comes out. Then he licks his bottom lip quickly and says, "Um, it might be..." He clears his throat. "Time for me to go."
I move closer to him. "Was it that bad?"
He backs away quickly. "No, no it was fine. I just... Mindlink and..." He looks down at his tools and clears his throat again. "I'll just... I'll come back for those." He nods, moving quickly towards the door.
I follow him. "Well thanks for the window-"
He nods, shuffling down the stairs quickly. "Everything's good with it now. Nothing to worry about." He grabs the doorknob.
"Can I at least get a hug?" I ask, behind him.
He gives me a wary look. "Er..."
My shoulders slump. I quite literally freaked the shit out of my boyfriend. Seductress my ass. More like failure.
His face softens. "Mia..."
"It's fine. Bye." I turn around.
He grabs my arm before I can walk back upstairs to lick my wounds in solitude. He turns me around to face him. "It's not anything you did wrong. I'm just..." He gives me a look.
I give him one back. I don't know what he expected me to get from that.
He sighs and gestures downwards.
