They frown, slumping in their seats. "Right."
"And to answer your question." I look into her eyes. "I don't wanna know if we're the bad guys. But I still have to."
She's quiet for a while, then she nods. "Alright. Good luck finding your answer."
"What?" Michael snaps his head towards her. "You're not gonna tell us?"
"What made you think I knew?" she asks.
My jaw drops. "You're inheriting the position of key advisor?" What does she mean she doesn't know?
She waves me off. "That just means I have approximate knowledge of many things. The Bloodmoon issue spans three generations."
I groan.
"So what do you know?" Michael asks.
"Exactly," I say. Why is she wasting our time? Inviting herself into my house? Getting me to put her on my guard shift like she deserves it?
She clutches her bag, hmph-ing. "You know what? I don't like your tone of voice, Mia. I don't like it one bit." She glares at Michael. "And I've been nothing but helpful to you people. This is the thanks I get?"
"So basically." I give her a flat look. "You never knew anything to begin with?"
"How's you know?" She laughs wildly.
Michael and I exchange a look. "This was your plan," I say.
He glares at me. "You went along with it."
Is he serious?
"But," she nudges my shoulder. "I'll tell you what. Since this is such an interesting question, I've decided to help you figure it out. Free of charge." She flashes a million-watt smile. "How's that sound, slowpoke?"
I glare daggers at her.
Me: >_>
Her: ^^
Michael: ???
I rub my forehead. Another dead end.
But she says she had a plan. "You know those dusty, nasty, ancient, historical, artifacts-of-the-past books in my dad's classroom?" she asks.
I nod.
She smirks. "I think they might be able to help."
"Well?" I ask Suzie as she skims through the stolen textbook, lounging on Michael's gaming chair.
She mutters a few facts as she traces her finger against the page. "All five of the great packs–-Silvermoon, Bloodmoon, Dawn, Dusk, and Moonlight-went to war against a nation made of rogues, the Eclipse." She shows a picture of the territory they fought over.
Michael takes a picture of the page.
Suzie continues. "Silvermoon and Bloodmoon led the resistance, but when the war was over, Bloodmoon turned on us."
That's the part that doesn't make sense. "Why?" I ask.
"Because they wanted more land than was originally theirs." Suzie closes the book. "Or so this thing says."
"You don't believe it?" Michael asks.
