Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 55

I look over him. "The jacket maybe. It's such a flashy color." Red.

He smirks. "I'm a flashy person," he laughs. He leans down suddenly.

He tries to kiss me!

I move to the side. "Carson."

"What?"

"I'm not ready for that."

He looks even more confused. "But you're my imprint."

I should've seen this coming from a mile away. "I get that, but still. I need time, if it's ever going to go there in the first place."

He furrows his brow. "Time for what? You're my imprint. My mate."

I knew he'd toss that word around as an excuse to start pressuring me. I look him in the eyes. "You were the one who said we barely know each other."

"No. I said we needed to get to know each other."

"Okay then. Well let's do that first."

He nods. "Great. This is us getting to know each other. We fought, now we kiss and makeup." He leans in again.

I lean away. "Carson." I have no choice but to use the words. "Back the hell up."

He stops, albeit reluctantly.

I give him a pointed look.

"Okay, okay. Fine." He moves away.

I sigh, relieved. Something actually worked with him.

"But can I have a hug at least?"

I nearly smack my forehead. "No."

"Why?"

"Because I don't trust you."

"Oh come on," he scoffs. "You're killing me here. I'll keep my hands this high." He demonstrates by raising them to the level of my mid back. "And I'm way too tall to try any sneak attacks. Please."

"..."

He sighs. "You said you read werewolf romance novels. Some of them are pretty accurate. You should know how I feel right now. How bad I want you."

My eyes fly open. I move, abruptly. Time to get away.

He puts his hands up in defense. "Not in that way. I'm not a horndog."
