I shake my head. "I'm ready."

I'm really glad he's not in my mind though, because I'm lying. I'm not thinking about the benefit of these assholes who have all but ostracized me. These people don't look at me or my family like they care. Without their "alphas" instructions, I wouldn't trust any of them to stick their necks out to protect us. I don't want it to be like that. If I'm not strong enough to be a part of this world and I can't get away, I'll have to use my resources.

I'll have to get these wolves to give a damn about me. For my benefit (except the ones who have been nice to me and Michael of course, but that's still not that many. As for the rest of them, I hope they're prepared to get used).

"Did I ask for your opinion?" Aiden yells.

I flinch.

Axel looks at the second level.

All activity in the gym stops.

Aiden's screaming at bathroom boy. What was his name, Ethan?

Ethan looks to the side. "No, but everyone can tell."

Aiden looks him dead in the eyes, way too close for comfort. "If I didn't ask for your opinion, keep your mouth shut." I've never seen him look so hostile.

"What's wrong with him?" I ask. How can he talk to Ethan like that?

Axel shakes his head, sadly. "It's not him. It's the bond."

I raise an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Axel shakes his head again and offers me no further explanation.

"I just want you to get better, Aiden. You don't have to... make me the enemy." Ethan looks up at him.

Axel scoffs. "You're doing that yourself. Get out of my sight." He turns around and looks at everyone in the room. "Does anyone else have anything to say?"

Everyone looks away, even the coaches. Ethan keeps his eyes on him though.

"Well?" Aiden turns back to him.

Ethan shakes his head, slowly. "You're losing your mind, and if you don't put away your pride and do what you know you need to do, you're going to kill yourself."

Aiden looks at him with the most emotionless eyes. "... I don't care." Aiden stands there. He just stands there, not another word offered.

Ethan looks at him incredulously, shakes his head one more time, and and then walks up the stairs. He passes me and Axel, exchanging a quick look with him before leaving the gym altogether.
