I go on my tippy toes but I can't quite see it all. I see a cluster of a lot of houses. Maybe werewolf vision?
"That far far dot over there, that's the mall. And even if we went to the top, we probably couldn't see the edge of our land. That's how big it is. Everywhere we've been is just a fraction of what we're in charge of." She smiles with a pride I want to know for this place.
I only see lights and buildings and a blur of the town but it still looks amazing.
Krys stands in between Brittany and me and sighs happily. "I love our territory. We've got the best ever."
"I know right," Brittany says.
"Well this has been fun. I'll be in the car." Krys walks away.
I laugh at her bluntness. I go to follow her, but Brittany stops me.
"There's one more thing I have to explain to you," she says.
"Okay...?" I nod.
"It's about... inheritance if you will. And forgiveness." Brittany nods to herself as she chooses every word. "Luna status and All that."
I don't like where this is going.
"You know, I really think we get along now even though we didn't initially."
I really don't like where this is going. "Why don't you just say it, Brittany? You usually don't beat around the bush."
She cringes. "Alright. Not tomorrow, but the day after the day after tomorrow," she uses her fingers to explain. "You'll have to meet with the advisors of the divisions. They're basically like the council of elders in Naruto except they're not assholes trying to get Gaara killed..." she goes off on a tangent and then looks at me. "You have no idea what I'm talking about do you?"
I give her a hard look. "Girl I'm a sand ninja, don't try me."
She nods, approvingly. "You surprise me every day. Well anyway, it includes a lot of people you know. Some of them are Coach Kenet, Ms. Baines, Mr. Olcan, and his daughter who will succeed him in the future as key strategist. Key strategist is a very high position, and so no matter what anyone likes, that person has a close relationship with the alphas and lunas of packs. Great talk, let's go."
I glare at her. "Who's his daughter?"
She gives me a look.
I stare at her.
She sighs. "Suzie."
How dare she speak that name in my presence. I give her a dirty look.
She sighs again. "As Luna, you need to love all of your subjects. Regardless of whatever shit happened in the past. Let it die there. That's why you crap in the first place, so it doesn't faster in you."
"She stabbed me in the back," I say incredulously. "She used me to get to a man. That's petty."
"It's not that simple. You took something from her. Can you really blame her?"
