I stay quiet. I look at my two companions but they avoid eye contact. No help.

"Look, Mia." Dad suddenly catches one of his daditudes. "Your mother's crying at the ktichen table, burning our good food, considering calling the cops because she's convinced that you got into a street fight with a gang called The Werewolves."

Onai snaps his head towards me.

I look away.

Dad continues, "She thinks it's run by the triplets and they're trying to recruit you for their evil deeds. I don't know what the hell she's talking about, but you need to come out right now."

"That's not true at all," I say, although it is kind of accurate. "She's wrong."

"You can tell her that yourself. Now."

Michael whispers to me. "He's not buying it. We're gonna have to go." He turns to Onai. "It's a little cramped but... it's better than him finding you."

I glare at him. "We can't leave him in there."

"I'll be fine," Onai says.

I don't know what to do. Mr. Olcan's words come back to me. Make a choice.

"Alright," my dad uses his commander voice. He sounds just like Megan. Oh lord. "I tried the nice way, but that didn't work. So here's what's going to happen. Mia _[I can't think of a middle name xD]_ Jones, you march yourself out here right now."

My eyes dart between the door, Michael's worried face, Onai's near death appearance, the window that may or may not reveal a pack of angry wolves trying to kill us, and my own shaking hands. I've had enough. This time I use my commander voice and say the only thing I can think of. "You really wanna know why there's blood all over the floor?"

"Oh no," Michael says, burying his head in his hands.

"What?" Onai furrows his brow. "Is she gonna tell?" he tries to get up.

I say it. "I just got my period and I'm bleeding everywhere."

Onai and Michael's eyes fly open. "She did it," Michael says. "I knew she would, but she did it."

I'm doing it. "I'm just bleeding everywhere. Everywhere. It's coming out like a freaking avalanche and-"

"Okay, okay. Whoa there," Dad says.

"Oh no." I point at the door. "You wanted to know. You wouldn't take no for an answer, so here it is, the truth. I'm farting and cramping and I need to poop and I'm crying and it feels like a swamp and I hate everyone right now and you don't want to be in this. It's hell in here, but you know what? Now that you mention it, it is kind of your fault with your stupid x chromosome that made me this way-"
