"Well, I've never needed their fake affection. If your eyes aren't working as they should, maybe you should head back to the hospital," Natasha said coldly. She couldn't be bothered to argue any further. It was just credit being stolen and not something she cared much about, after all.
"Explain yourself! This isn't making any sense. It seems like the people here aren't all that great, Mr. Foster," Molly said.
Clearly, she hadn't taken kindly to being embarrassed by Zachary earlier, and now she struck back without hesitation.
But Zachary's next words stopped her short.
"Who said there's no evidence?"
Even Natasha was caught off guard to hear this, let alone Molly.
A familiar figure stepped forward at this moment.
Natasha took a closer look at the person. She remembered this boy from that day. He had been bouncing a basketball, passing by her.
"Rory? What are you doing here?"
Judging by the way Molly called him so affectionately, this had to be her son.
"Zachary invited me. That day, when I left the office, the person I saw helping you... was her," Rory said as he pointed straight at Natasha.
Before he could say anything more, Nicole jumped in front of him.
Rory did not back down. "It was Natasha! Not you!"
He frowned, clearly annoyed. It was the first time he had ever met someone so shameless.
"I know you don't like Nicole, but that doesn't mean you can tell lies," Molly said. She was used to this by now. He lied so often that she didn't know which of his words could be trusted and which ones couldn't.
"I'm not lying. You just never believe me," Rory shot back.
He was already in university. With Molly accusing him of lying in front of so many people, he felt embarrassed and hurriedly left the lab.
"I think you should go and check on him. At his age, kids are still a little fragile emotionally," Natasha suggested. She understood how he felt and saw the need to offer Molly a little reminder.
