Chapter 124

“Why are you so nervous? We’re not suspecting you. We just want to ask if you found any clues when you went to Mr. Grant’s office. Selene said.
She noticed that Joycelyn, usually calm and composed, was now so nervous. It was something she had never seen before.
Selene couldn’t help but keep staring at Joycelyn, watching her intently.
Joycelyn took a deep breath quietly.
She was so worried about their relationship being exposed that her nerves were on edge, attracting even more attention.
“You scared me to death! The last time Anna pulled a stunt like this, I was terrified. If anyone else hears, I’m finished.” Joycelyn sighed helplessly
Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.
“No wonder, but you weren’t even so nervous when Anna said this in public in the restaurant last time. What’s wrong with you today? You look so scared.” Selene laughed heartlessly.
“Who can stand your rogue behavior?” Joycelyn replied gently, trying to calm her racing heart. “And, I didn’t pay attention when I went to Mr. Grant’s office. You should ask Aurelia; she’s more observant.”
With that, Joycelyn took another sip of water from her glass.
Though curious, Selene figured this topic had left a shadow on Joycelyn from last time, so she didn’t pursue it further.
“Hey, in novels, aren’t powerful CEOs always into those naive, sweet, or innocent types of girls?” Melly couldn’t help but
comment.
Hearing this, Selene couldn’t help but think how much it resembled the nervous Joycelyn from earlier. Joycelyn instinctively bit her lower lip when she was nervous, and her clear, bright eyes sparkled with surprise. She no longer looked like a wise and quiet beauty. Instead, she looked more like an innocent girl.
However, Selene did not say it out loud. She was afraid that Joycelyn would feel too much pressure.
“But a man as handsome and wealthy as Mr. Grant wouldn’t limit himself to one type. Even if he stood still, countless women would probably flock to him. Celebrities, heiresses, daughters of high–ranking officials, no one can resist Mr. Grant,” Selene said casually, though her words had a significant impact on the listener.
Joycelyn sighed inwardly. Indeed, a man like Ellison, nearly perfect, would always attract bold women, even if he seemed cold and indifferent.
“But we’ve never seen the woman, have we?” Melly commented.
“The ways wealthy people amuse themselves are beyond our imagination. A fleeting affair could bring in millions of dollars. No matter how perfect Mr. Grant is, he’s still a man. Men, those who understand, understand,” Selene said, her words sharp
and clear.
Although Joycelyn didn’t say anything, she nodded in agreement.
Initially, she thought it would be just a passing conversation.

Chapter 124
But as Selene and Melly stopped discussing the matter and began their lunch break, Joycelyn found herself dwelling on those words. The budding affection in her heart started to cool and become more rational.
The more Joycelyn thought about it, the more she remembered a quote she had read: “Those who have never been loved. are easily moved by a little kindness and give their all
After losing her father at a young age, and growing up amidst hardships, he always appeared at the right moments, protecting her.
It was inevitable.
But fortunately, she hadn’t given her all. Her heart still belonged to herself.
Joycelyn took out her phone and, after thinking for a while, decided to express her feelings about the relationship.
She first sent a cute picture of her dog. Rocky.
Then she typed a message: [Mr. Grant, do you know why I like dogs?]
Joycelyn watched the phone screen patiently, waiting.
After a while, Ellison replied with just a question mark.
Joycelyn seized the moment and continued: [Because dogs are the most loyal companions.]
Ellison frowned at this sudden expression: [Are you awake now? Not sleepy anymore? Why don’t you come up and talk to me?]
Joycelyn smiled, the blue light from her phone casting a serene and unique beauty on her calm face.
Instead of following his words, she said what she wanted to say: [What I mean is, I hope that during our marriage, we can be absolutely loyal to each other. If you get bored or have feelings for someone else, you can tell me. We don’t need to hide anything; we can discuss it.]
Joycelyn spoke tactfully, not explicitly stating it was about him, but instead expressing it from both perspectives.
Ellison’s teasing expression instantly turned cold. He switched from one–handed typing to both hands, immediately writing: [You have someone else?]
After sending that message, his eyebrows furrowed so tightly.
Knowing she was on her lunch break, he didn’t call. His deep, dark eyes stared intensely at the screen, his chest rising and falling noticeably.
In his mind, he went through all possible scenarios like secret crushes, first loves, and unfulfilled desires.
In the half a minute that Joycelyn did not reply, Ellison had already imagined countless things.
Ellison’s mind raced. ‘What does her words mean? Is she hinting at a divorce?”
Joycelyn looked at his words and couldn’t help but laugh: [No, but who knows what the future holds.]
In the future, he might find someone else–someone younger, prettier, with a better figure, and a better family background.
After all, he was Ellison Grant, the object of admiration for countless women, facing immeasurable temptations.

Joycelyn felt like the most ordinary and unremarkable person. She had nothing but herself.
Ellison: [You know I have no interest in Leal. It was just a photo.]
Joycelyn: II know. I was just saying. I didn’t take a photo to heart.]
