Chapter 34 

Joycelyn finished packing her things and headed to the underground parking garage to drive her car just as she unlocked it, a small dog’s bark suddenly came from beneath the car. She crouched down to see what was going on 

Under the car, a tiny, soaking wet, and dirty little white stray dog was huddled. When it saw Joycelyn, it barked nervously “Woof Woo!” 

“Shh, it’s okay, I won’t hurt you,” Joycelyn said softly, trying to calm the little dog. 

The puppy shrank back under the car, shivering all over. Its large, round eyes were fixed warily on Joycelyn. The two of them just stared at each other for a few seconds. 

The dog stopped barking, curling into a ball, still trembling. Seeing it so scared made Joycelyn feel sorry for it. 

“Wait here. I’ll get you something to eat,” Joycelyn said, not sure if the dog could understand her. 

She quickly put on a mask and went back to the cafeteria to buy some corns. When she returned, the puppy was still hiding under her car. 

She pushed the corns toward the little dog. “Here you go. Once you’re full, you’ll feel warmer and won’t be so scared.” 

The puppy must have been starving. It slowly crawled out, sniffed the food, and then began eating eagerly. In no time, it finished the coms. 

Once it had eaten, the little dog seemed a little braver. It wagged its tail and walked over to Joycelyn, seeking affection. Her heart melted, and she crouched down to gently pet it. 

The puppy was well–behaved, its tail wagging nonstop. It was clear it was innocent and trusting–just one meal had won it 

over. 

“Did you hurt your paw?” Joycelyn asked, noticing the dog’s limp.. 

The puppy didn’t seem to feel any pain; it just kept wagging its tail and smiling at her. 

Joycelyn had been in a bad mood earlier, but now she felt instantly cheered up. “If you want, I can take care of you. I’ll bring you home, okay?” 

The puppy looked up at her, wagging its tail even more enthusiastically. It made a soft, whiny sound, almost like an answer. “Alright, I’ll take that as a yes,” Joycelyn said, scooping the little wet dog into her arms and using her jacket to cushion the 

seat. 

At that moment, she was so focused on helping the puppy that she forgot to check with Ellison about bringing the dog home. 

She drove to the pet hospital and had the puppy checked out. 

They spent the afternoon there while Joycelyn learned how to properly care for a dog. She also bought a bunch of supplies 

for the little one. 

By the time she was done, it was almost dark, and she suddenly remembered that Ellison would be getting off work soon, She thought he might have something planned for the evening. 

Quickly, she picked up the little dog and rushed back to her car. “Rocky, sit tight. We’re going home.”

Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang. It was Ellison. 

“Hey… I’m on my way back. Are you home yet?” Joycelyn answered while fastening her seatbelt.

Tm heading back now, should be there in about half an hour,” Ellison replied from his car, casually playing with a platinum ring he had just picked up at a jewelry store. 

“I’ll be home in half an hour too. I’m on the road now, Joycelyn said before hanging up. 

She glanced over at the little dog sitting on the passenger seat, its fluffy fur looking so clean and adorable. 

For a moment, she almost sent Ellison a photo to let him know about the new addition. But then she hesitated, thinking, “What if he doesn’t agree to keep the dog? I wouldn’t be able to. 

If I bring the puppy home first and he doesn’t want it, maybe, seeing how cute and clean it is, he will be more willing to accept it. With that thought, Joycelyn decided to just go ahead and follow the GPS. 

“Rocky, let’s go home,” she said. 

“Woof!” The little dog wagged its tail happily and barked in response. 

As the rain began to let up in the evening, Joycelyn was in high spirits. She imagined what life would be like once she had the puppy–spending time with Ellison would be less awkward and more enjoyable with the dog around. 

When she neared the villa, she spotted Ellison’s black Bentley ahead. She followed closely behind and briefly flashed her headlights. 

“Mr. Grant, Mrs. Grant is behind us,” William noticed Joycelyn’s car and informed Ellison. 

Ellison tucked the ring back into his suit pocket. 

The two cars pulled into the garage, one following the other. Ellison got out of his car first. 

Joycelyn parked, hopping out of her car with cheerful, quick steps. She opened the passenger door, picked up the puppy. and cradled it in her arms. 

“Mr. Grant, I found this dog. Is it okay if I keep it?” She asked, beaming as she looked at him, her eyes full of excitement as she held the little dog. 

Behind her, the sharply dressed Ellison froze the moment he saw the pair. His usually calm and composed features stiffened, his brows furrowing sharply. 

Joycelyn noticed the change in his expression and her smile faltered, turning into a nervous, awkward bite of her lip. 

“I’ve already bathed it and had it vaccinated and dewormed… The vet said it’s perfectly healthy and clean…” Her tone shifted from bright and excited to more hesitant, as if she was trying to justify her decision. 

She suddenly realized that Ellison, who wouldn’t even let his phone come to bed, probably wasn’t too fond of pets. Her heart skipped a beat with uncertainty. 

She stood there, holding the puppy, looking at Ellison with a mix of confusion and unease. The little dog in her arms kept its tome out grinning happily. 

Ellison’s expression darkened further. His voice was low and tense. “Where did you find this ugly dog?” 

“It’s actually kind of cute,” Joycelyn replied earnestly, a little defensive. “I found it under my car. And… it’s not ugly. It’s just a
