Chapter 43
Chapter 43
As expected, the interests of straight men are exactly as the internet describes.
Joycelyn was about to place the order but was unsure how to fill in the delivery address. On top of that, buying such intimate clothing made her nervous about it being discovered.
She felt utterly embarrassed.
Joycelyn lay on the bed, rolling around with her phone, building up the courage. After a while, her face flushed red, and with a deep breath, she squeezed her eyes shut and clicked “send.”
She needed a safe delivery address.
When Ellison came out of the shower, he saw the message and sent her an address.
Joycelyn, her hands trembling, copied it and finalized the order.
In one swift motion, she hid the phone under the blanket.
As soon as she set it down, two notification sounds pinged.
Her face went even redder as she pulled out the phone to check the messages.
Ellison: [Did you buy it?]
Joycelyn bit her lip in embarrassment and didn’t respond for a long time.
Ellison: [Already asleep?]
Joycelyn could practically picture his calm, collected expression as he asked.
She felt mortified, wishing she could disappear, but there he was, serious and direct, asking like it was any normal conversation.
If it weren’t for the pictures he’d sent, she might’ve thought he was asking about something important.
She still didn’t reply, and Ellison sent another message: [If you don’t reply, I’m coming to find you.]
Panicking, Joycelyn quickly typed back: [I bought it, and I’m going to bed. Goodnight…]
Clearly, she was avoiding him.
Ellison smiled slightly, his features still holding back some restrained energy: [Goodnight.]
With a sigh of relief, Joycelyn locked her phone and buried herself under the
covers.
This was so embarrassing; just thinking about it made her feel like her entire body was on fire.
She hoped two days wouldn’t come too quickly.
The next afternoon, Joycelyn saw the delivery being brought to her door by the property staff.
She rushed home as soon as work was done, hiding the package in her bag. When she got to her room and opened it, she
found the black lace, sexy slip that looked almost like sheer fabric–barely there.
Chapter 4
It was her first time seeing such provocative lingerie, and her face immediately turned crimson. Just holding it, she felt like her blood was boiling.
She quickly washed her lingerie and hung it up to dry in her room. To distract herself, Joycelyn pretended to be busy, event cleaning the toilet twice.
Once she finished and pushed the thought to the back of her mind, she decided to order some flowers for Ellison and, after some consideration, bought a birthday gift.
She changed into some fresh clothes, searched for an address, put on a hat and sunglasses, then drove her repaired little car to the luxury store.
She planned to buy a Rolex for Ellison–using the money he’d given her.
The Rolex boutique had its own parking lot.
Joycelyn didn’t even notice the white Rolls–Royce parked next to her, from which a rich young lady stepped out. When she saw Joycelyn’s car, her eyes were full of disdain.
Joycelyn wasn’t paying attention to that, though; all she cared about was getting Ellison a decent birthday gift.
It was her first time in a luxury store, and she felt somewhat out of place.
When the enthusiastic sales assistant approached, Joycelyn felt shy.
She pulled out a picture of the watch she wanted and showed it to the saleswoman, asking if they had it
The
young saleswoman looked at Joycelyn with some surprise but still led her to the counter.
She let Joycelyn look at the watch through the glass, without saying much else.
Joycelyn checked the watch against the picture she’d studied.
It was exactly the one she wanted.
Just as Joycelyn was thinking of asking the sales assistant to wrap it up, a distant–looking female staff member glanced toward the door and immediately stepped forward to greet someone.
Almost all the salespeople in the store politely greeted the young woman who had just entered.
It was the same woman who had gotten out of the white Rolls–Royce earlier.
Joycelyn glanced over her shoulder, noticing that, unlike her own experience of being ignored earlier, this woman was receiving full attention.
The woman in the white dress was getting VIP treatment.
“Ms. Wilson, welcome,” the store manager personally came out to greet her.
Joycelyn wasn’t suited for this kind of high–society scene. She just wanted her sales assistant to pack up the watch so she could head to the counter to pay.
A sharp voice suddenly came from behind her. “Miss, if you can’t afford it, don’t block the way.”
Joycelyn turned around and saw the young lady from the Rolls–Royce, who looked down on her with utter disdain.

Chapter 43
There was an air of arrogance about her, as though Joycelyn’s presence was an insult to her.

Joycelyn looked at the lady, who was wearing a designer Chanel dress, her posture elegant and haughty, exuding an icy air.
Joycelyn felt like she’d seen her before.
Joycelyn didn’t want to stay any longer. She walked over to a newer sales assistant, someone who seemed less involved in the power dynamics, and said, “Please wrap this up for me. I’ll go pay.”
She pointed to the black, business–style mechanical watch she had chosen.
She just wanted to finish the purchase and leave as quickly as possible.
