Chapter 49
Joycelyn glanced over, her fair face momentarily showing a trace of surprise. She thought, “That watch… wasn’t it the limited edition the rich girl bought yesterday?
Ellison noticed that Joycelyn was staring intently and asked, “Do you
like it?”
Joycelyn quickly snapped out of her thoughts, blinking a couple of times and replying. “It’s the first time I’ve seen a man wear a diamond watch, and it looks pretty nice. It must be really expensive, right?”
Ellison raised his wrist and looked at the watch before casually responding. “It’s just a watch”
Joycelyn nodded in agreement, her mind once again being blown away by the wealth some people have.
A watch worth more than a million dollars–she’d probably have to work her whole life just to afford something like that.
There was a question she was dying to ask, but she hesitated and didn’t dare to speak it out loud. Instead, she pretended to be in a hurry to leave for work
The flush on her cheeks and the way her eyes flickered didn’t escape Ellison’s sharp gaze.
“Joycelyn, is there something you want to ask?” Ellison called out to her.
Joycelyn shook her head quickly and said, “Nope. I’m off now, bye…
That morning. Joycelyn drove faster than usual.
Linda had returned to work after being discharged from the hospital, and the office felt tense that morning.
Around noon, Joycelyn and Aurelia were just about to head out for lunch when Linda called them over.
“Mr. Grant is holding a birthday party today,” Linda said, her tone commanding. “The hotel needs extra hands to set up for the event. Everyone’s going to help.”
Joycelyn and Aurelia exchanged looks.
Aurelia responded, “Which hotel? We haven’t eaten yet. Can we go after lunch?”
“We need to go now,” Linda said briskly, her tone full of urgency. “They’ve arranged employee meals at the hotel.
Since it was Mr. Grant’s birthday, they didn’t object. After gathering their things, they went to the parking garage, got in their cars, and drove to the hotel to help set up for the party.
The half–outdoor restaurant had been decorated extravagantly, far more luxurious than their company’s annual party- probably ten times more so.

At the hotel, there was only a simple buffet, so Joycelyn and the others quickly had a few bites before getting to work. They worked non–stop until 5 p.m. before the team finally had a chance to rest.
collections. “Oh my God, this is so extravagant,” Selene said, shaking her head. “I heard just the venue cost over 300 thousand dollars. And the hotel manager said tonight’s red wine and champagne are vintage
“The pastries were made by the top chefs in the industry–just a row of little cakes costs more than our monthly salaries,”

Chapter 49
As a foodie, Selene couldn’t stop talking about it. “It’s insane”

Joycelyn, who had been sitting on the steps, rubbing her sore legs, replied, “Oh wow, there are a lot of people coming, huh?
inda said we’ll stay here to change into staff uniforms and help.
“I also heard” Selene continued, “that this birthday party was organized by Mr. Grant’s rumored first love. She’s a rich girl, and apparently, they were madly in love bark in the day, but then they broke up for some reason. Mr. Grant has stayed single ever since because of her
At the mention of this gossip, Joycelyn’s ears perked up. She sat up straighter, suddenly interested, “Wait, tell me more.”
She thought, ‘Could it be that I look like his first love? Is that why he married me?
“It’s the classic story of childhood sweethearts from wealthy families, Selene began sharing the gossip she’d heard, recounting various details.
More and more colleagues gathered around to listen, including Joycelyn, who was even more eager than everyone
else.
Just then, Selene lowered her voice and said, ‘Do you see that woman in pink haute couture? That’s her. Today, she and Mr. Grant are wearing matching outfits.”
Joycelyn looked over and saw, sure enough, the rich girl she’d spotted yesterday at the Rolex store.
She was dressed head to toe in pink, looking like a flower in full bloom, her hair impeccably styled.
At that moment, Joycelyn began to doubt the whole childhood sweethearts story.
Ellison had worn the shirt she’d bought him this morning, and when he left, she complimented him on it, which seemed to please him.
But now, this rich girl was also in a full pink ensemble. Could it be… coincidence?
In the middle of the party, Ruby stood admiring the setup, saying, “Very good, thank you, Linda.”
“Not at all. If Ms. Wilson is happy, I’m relieved,” Linda replied with feigned modesty.
“Ms. Wilson’s outfit today really suits Mr. Grant. It’s the first time we’ve seen him wear such bright colors–seems like love can even change a man like Mr. Grant, Linda complimented warmly.
Ruby flicked her long, curly hair with a smug smile. “Of course.”
To make sure Ellison would like her, she had put in a lot of effort.
From the gift to today’s outfit, everything had been carefully planned and researched in advance. She wanted everyone to know that she was a special presence in Ellison’s life.
“Today, only Mr. Grant and I are allowed to wear pink,” Ruby added, her tone firm. “Anyone else in pink should be sent out.”
Linda was unhappy but hid it behind a smile. “Understood.”
