Joycelyn felt a little dazed but didn’t think too much about it. She washed her hands twice at the nearby sink, then grabbed her flowers and fruit basket and caught up with Ellison. 

“Goodbye… big fat cat…” she said, not forgetting to bid farewell to the kitten. 

Clearly, she wasn’t affected by Ellison’s words in the slightest. 

Ellison slowed his pace, waiting for her to catch up. As he turned to look back, he noticed she was gently saying goodbye to the kitten. 

Her fair face broke into a sweet, refreshing smile, and her entire demeanor was warm and pure, in stark contrast to her usual composed and gentle self. 

It was clear that she really loved animals. 

“By the way, when can we get Rocky back?” Joycelyn asked, holding the bouquet in one hand and the fruit basket in the other. 

“You should ask William,” Ellison replied. 

When she got closer, Ellison leaned forward and naturally took the fruit basket from her. His clean, fresh scent enveloped her, and Joycelyn held her breath, staring into his deep eyes. 

Ellison slightly raised his chin, his gaze soft but steady as he looked at her frozen expression. He could feel her unease, the tension in her body. 

“Thank you,” Joycelyn said, realizing how intimate the space between them was. She quickly touched her face–thankfully, her mask was still on. 

“Let’s go,” she said, breaking eye contact and glancing down at her feet, walking a little faster. 

When they reached the elevator, Joycelyn automatically stood as far away from him as possible, clearly uncomfortable. 

Once they reached the door of Isolde’s room, Joycelyn took off her mask, moved closer to Ellison, and entered the room behind him. 

“Isolde,” she called sweetly. 

Isolde had been eagerly waiting, and upon seeing her, she immediately stood up from her wheelchair with a smile. 

Joycelyn hurried over, holding the flowers, and said, “Isolde, please sit, please sit.” 

“No need, no need,” Isolde said, taking the flowers and holding Joycelyn’s hand with her own. 

“By the way, where’s the bracelet I gave you? You’re not wearing it,” Isolde commented, touching Joycelyn’s hand. Although her hair was silver and she was still recovering, Isolde looked elegant and poised, wearing a long necklace and matching rings–clearly a woman of great taste. 

“I don’t want to wear such a precious diamond bracelet to work. It’s too flashy,” Joycelyn explained with a smile. 

“Nonsense, a girl should look pretty! This ring of yours looks too plain–Ellison, what are you doing?” Isolde frowned at her grandson.

She thought Ellison should at least get her a big diamond ring instead of such a simple one. 

Joycelyn quickly defended him, “I really like this ring. I prefer simple designs” 

Ellison had already put the fruit basket down by the door. His cold, handsome face showed some helplessness.

“Grandma, you’re looking great today. When you’re out of the hospital, I’ll take you shopping, and I’ll pay for it, okay?” Ellison said, looking at the grandmother and granddaughter, whose bond seemed as close as that of blood relatives. As for him, he felt like he was invisible. 

“Sure, once I feel better, I’ll take you shopping. By the way, Joycelyn, have you decided on your wedding dress? What style are you going for? You can tell me about it,” Isolde said, looking at Joycelyn with loving eyes. 

Joycelyn felt a bit more tired and weak than their first meeting, but now Isolde’s warmth felt even stronger, to the point where she almost couldn’t handle it. 

“Not yet,” Joycelyn answered honestly, not wanting to deceive Isolde. 

When Isolde heard this, she looked at Ellison with clenched teeth and said, “You little brat, what are you doing?” 

After scolding Ellison, Isolde didn’t even care about his expression and gently turned back to Joycelyn, saying, “Don’t be upset, this boy’s a first–timer, so he might not know what to do.” 

“Grandma, let’s eat,” Ellison interrupted, his voice calm but firm. 

Joycelyn could sense a bit of gossip in the air and remarked, “Isolde, he’s thirty, how do you know he’s never been in a relationship?” 

“Sweetheart, age has its advantages. I know him like the back of my hand. He’s a playboy, but he’s completely indifferent to women. If I wasn’t worried about him having some problem, I wouldn’t be anxious and eating poorly, ending up in the hospital for a checkup,” Isolde said, her eyes glinting with mockery, tinged with some disdain. 

Joycelyn suppressed a smile, clearly amused. 

Ellison stepped forward, casting a sidelong glance at her. 

Joycelyn immediately wiped the smile off her face and said, “Isolde, you’re impressive.” 

However, when Joycelyn heard about Ellison’s lack of relationships, she found it hard to believe. 

He seemed too experienced for that. 

From their first kiss to that entire night together, he certainly didn’t seem like a rookie. 

Oh, except for the first time, when it was a bit short, but after that, he was definitely very skilled. 

Thinking of this, Joycelyn suddenly blushed. 

“Let’s stop talking about this and eat,” Isolde said, dismissing the conversation. 

“Okay, I’ll go wash my hands,” Joycelyn said, her face red, as she turned to walk toward the sink. 

Ellison followed her, and as she reached the sink and turned on the tap, he moved up behind her, slipping his hand around her waist in a gesture of intimacy as they washed together. 

Joycelyn felt his strong chest pressed against her back, and a wave of security washed over her, making her smile even
