Ellison said: [Try talking back to me when you’re in front of me, see what happens.) 

The words made Joycelyn’s hand tremble as she held her phone. Her heart skipped a heat and suddenly raced. 

Joycelyn couldn’t quite tell if she was imagining things, but those words felt a little too smooth. It gave her the strange feeling that she was actually in a romance. 

Joycelyn hesitated for a while, typing and deleting, her fingers hovering over the keys. 

Several lines of text appeared on the screen, only to be erased immediately. 

After what seemed like forever, she finally sent a cute emoji of a person massaging someone’s shoulders, then immediately put the phone down. 

She needed to focus on her work–this emotional rollercoaster was driving her crazy, 

Ellison, seeing how long it took her to respond with just an emoji, couldn’t help but curl his lips into a deep, steady smile. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes half–closed as he stared at the phone screen in his hand. 

William knocked and entered the office, only to see his usually composed, serious boss grinning indulgently. 

William was about to report on work but immediately halted, making a quick turn to avoid interrupting his boss’s romantic mood. 

Ellison saw William’s shadow and straightened up, his smile disappearing as he put his phone down by his side. 

“What’s the matter?” Ellison asked. 

William turned around and, with a serious tone, reported, “Mr. Grant, yesterday’s press conference was a success. Many domestic companies are now preparing to reach strategic partnerships with us. 

“However, the lead designer, Ms. Wilson, hasn’t shown her stance yet. Several executives are hosting a banquet at the hotel today to discuss further. Should you attend?” 

Ellison continued staring at his phone, clearly not paying attention to William’s words. 

“Mr. Grant, Ms. Wilson is the only designer to have overcome the challenges in chip intelligence. Her future is limitless. If we can establish a long–term partnership with Ms. Wilson, the Grant Group will dominate the domestic chip intelligence market, and Mr. Grant’s own value will soar even higher,” William continued, hoping to catch his attention. 

Ellison, still not looking up, responded indifferently, “If you have something to say, just say it.” 

William hesitated for a moment and then said, “Mr. Grant, public and private matters must be kept separate. I believe it’s best for you to attend the banquet for the greater good. After all, Ms. Wilson mentioned in her interview that she wants to work alongside you, to be your best partner.” 

Ellison slowly crossed his legs, his expression turning cold as he responded flatly, “So you think she’s exceptional, and I should just let her lead me around by the nose? Is that what you’re suggesting? Or is sacrificing a little ‘charm‘ expected from 

me too? Hmm?” 

The sharpness of his words shattered the soft mood from before, and the commanding aura he exuded was unmistakable.

During the lunch break, Joycelyn, along with Aurelia and the others went to the staff cafeteria. While they were eating the overheard some juicy gossip 

“Did you heary M& Wisons achievements in thip development are groudkreaking They may audewaiting Tur Mr. Garn approval. If she joins the Grant Group, it will dominate the domestic chip market. Mr. Grant’s value is expected t skyrocket, Selene said, barely pausing to take a bite of her food 

Her dramatic delivery even caught the attention of people at nearby tables, and soon, everyone joined the gossip. 

Joycelyn quietly listened, her face blank, but her expression clearly amused. 

She enjoyed eavesdropping but wasn’t about to jump into the conversation. 

“Really? Has Mr. Grant made a statement? I mean, they’re wearing the same ring, so he must have expressed something. right?” Aurelia asked, surprised. 

“Of course, it’s only a matter of time. It’s the kind of love that peaks when they finally meet. I heard Ma. Wilson changed her major in college because she knew Mr. Grant was into science. After graduating, she focused on this field and spent ten years working on it. She’s amazing” a female colleague said with admiration. 

If Joycelyn hadn’t discovered Ruby’s behind–the–scenes manipulations, she might have found the story sweet. But now, all she felt was disgust for Ruby’s hypocrisy. 

But that was her secret–one she couldn’t tell anyone, because no one would believe her. 

Just as she was finishing her lunch and listening to more gossip, her phone buzzed with several messages from a high school 

friend. 

Her former class advisor was celebrating his 60th birthday, and the class was planning a reunion. 

The group chat, which Joycelyn hadn’t checked in a while, was full of messages. Her friend had even sent screenshots. 

“Everyone stop gossiping about Mr. Grant and Ms. Wilson. Our director said not to discuss them at work, or there will be consequences.” 

“Why? Is there something we haven’t heard about?” Selene asked, eyes wide with excitement.
