Chapter 74
Chapter 74
Just as Joycelyn sighed, Isolde’s call came through.
She picked up immediately and said, “Isolde, what’s up… The suitcase? Let me go find it.”
While talking on the phone, Joycelyn stepped into the elevator and went downstairs.
Sure enough, she spotted a large suitcase with a combination lock.
After entering the code and opening it, Joycelyn was stunned.
Her slightly unsettled heart was instantly distracted by the sudden display of wealth…
At 9.30 PM, Joycelyn heard some noise and knew that Ellison had returned.
Unable to sleep, tossing and turning in bed, Joycelyn decided to get up and find him.
The bedroom door was open, but he wasn’t there. However, there was a bright light spilling from the study.
He must have worked late and still had some overtime.
“Mr. Grant,” Joycelyn gently knocked on the study door, her voice soft.
“Come in.” Ellison’s calm, clear voice responded from inside.
Joycelyn carefully turned the gold–plated door handle and peeked her head in.
“Is something wrong?” Ellison looked up from his laptop screen and saw Joycelyn, standing by the door in her pajamas, blinking with her bright, clear eyes.
She had swapped her business attire for something sweeter and more adorable, which gave her a youthful appearance.
Ellison’s gaze softened involuntarily.
On the screen, a group of high–level executives from various countries were meeting, but when they heard a sweet female voice, even the cold CEO’s gaze softened.
Instantly, everyone leaned in, trying to gossip.
Joycelyn stood obediently at the door and asked, “Are you busy?”
Ellison said, “Is there something?”
Joycelyn nodded slightly, “Just a little bit.”
Ellison immediately told the others to pause the meeting, then closed his laptop.
“Come in,” Ellison said.
Joycelyn obediently pushed the door open a bit wider, dragged in the suitcase, and walked straight to Ellison’s side.
“Mr. Grant, these are the dowries Isolde gave me. I don’t think I should accept them and should return them to you.”
She opened the suitcase, revealing gifts and dowries Isolde had sent directly to her home.

Chapter 74
There were several property deeds for luxury homes and even the ownership certificate for a small island.
Ellison, leaning back in his large chair, glanced at the neatly arranged items in the suitcase.
Then, he looked up and met Joycelyn’s sincere face. “Grandma told me today to keep them if you like.”
Joycelyn also glanced at the contents and said, with a clear, ungreedy look in her eyes, “I don’t have the ability to manage these. They have no value in my hands. I do need money, but not that badly.”
Ellison’s gaze deepened as he kept staring at her pure, unadorned face.
Her eyes were clean and bright, and she looked like a simple young girl, without a trace of aggression.
“Not accepting them means you’re planning to divorce and don’t want any strings attached?” Ellison’s face remained calm, his gaze deep and unreadable.
Joycelyn’s transparent eyes flickered instinctively.
Ellison’s eyes narrowed slightly–sure enough, she had been caught off guard.
“No… No,” she stammered.
Although she had thought about it, Joycelyn felt like things were more complicated than they seemed.
Seeing his face darken, Joycelyn didn’t panic or shrink away. Instead, she casually shrugged her small shoulders and said, “With you here, I don’t need money. Money is important, but you are more important to me than money.”
Hearing this, the coldness in Ellison’s eyes melted away.
“Do you think I’ll believe that?”
His voice was still cold but without the sharp edge it had before.
Joycelyn flashed him a sweet smile.
Her smile was like refreshing lemonade on a hot summer day–sweet, delightful, and intoxicating, even more so than wine. “You can think what you want, but I’ll do things my way. I won’t be influenced by what you think.”
“So sharp–tongued, huh?” Ellison said.
“Alright, I won’t disturb you anymore. I’ll be going now. If Isolde asks, I’ll tell her I asked you to keep them, since what’s mine is yours.”
“What’s mine is yours.” That sweet remark stirred something deep within Ellison, and his calm demeanor faltered.
“Seems like you’re after more than just these,” Ellison’s eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze growing more intense.
Joycelyn looked at him and blinked innocently.
She seemed to understand what he was implying.
“You don’t mean to say I’m after you, too?” she asked, her neck shrinking in surprise.
Ellison remained motionless, his face expressionless, but his eyes made his thoughts clear.

Chapter 74
Joycelyn looked at his aloof, cold expression, then chuckled, “Mr. Grant, they say there’s a generation gap after three years. 1 think we definitely have one.”
Joycelyn stuck her tongue out playfully after saying that.
She looked like a mischievous girl.
But Ellison wasn’t pleased.
He quickly uncrossed his arms, pushing himself off the chair, and strode toward Joycelyn,
Seeing him move, Joycelyn was startled and quickly turned to run,
Ellison was self–aware of his age.
Joycelyn took a step forward, but Ellison’s long legs crossed the distance in one stride, his long arm reaching out and pulling
her in.
He then yanked her into his chest with one hand while the other steadied her waist.
Joycelyn felt herself stabilized below the waist, but her head involuntarily collided with his chest.
The hard muscles left her dizzy, stars flashing in her vision.
“Ah.” Joycelyn gasped.
Her delicate face scrunched in pain.
“What did you just say? Say it again,” Ellison’s questioning voice dropped suddenly, sending a chill down Joycelyn’s spine.
“What did I say?” Joycelyn lifted her eyes timidly, her big, innocent eyes gazing up at him, looking like a little girl being wronged.
