Sean’s eyes widened with fear, “You want me to take out Lilian?”
Quintessa’s smile was light, “I never said that. You said it yourself. Whether to do it or not, it’s up to you. I’m not forcing you.”
Sean quickly shook his head, “No, no, I can’t. The Yates family, you have no idea how ruthless they can be. They won’t spare me. Lilian will be released on bail in a couple of days. I can’t do it.”
Quintessa’s smile was inviting, “Are the people you’ve killed few? What’s the difference, really? For a murderer, whether you kill one or a hundred, the charge remains the same.”
Sean’s face turned sickly pale, “You you want to see Lilian and me at each other’s throats. You’re scheming.”
Quintessa spread her hands, “You don’t have to play the game if you don’t want to. I’m not forcing you. Whether to do it or not, the choice is yours.”
Quintessa wanted to see Sean and Lilian turn against each other. They had conspired to kill her mother years ago, and now she had the chance to watch them destroy each other. Why would she not take advantage of such a good opportunity?
Sean struggled. The task Quintessa proposed was nearly impossible for him. But for $100 million, if Quintessa refused to ask Tyrone for help, his only fate would be behind bars. Just as Quintessa said, at his age, going in meant coming out as ashes.
Quintessa lazily said, “What’s more important, your life or Lilian’s? You weigh it yourself. I don’t have time for you to mull it over. Since you’re unwilling, forget it. What we discussed tonight, you didn’t say, and I didn’t hear. We’ve never met.”
Watching Quintessa walk away from the gazebo, Sean couldn’t help but call out to her.
