A cold smile twisted Callias’s lips. 

“Busy? With what? A date with your new friend?” His voice turned harsh. “Don’t forget – I haven’t agreed to this breakup.” 

Skylar’s face darkened, though defiance still burned in her eyes. 

“Why do you have to make this ugly? Can’t we just end this cleanly?” 

In ten years, he’d never seen her this angry. It shook him. 

But he’d grown too used to controlling their relationship. His pride wouldn’t let him back 

down. 

Raw emotion threatened to explode. 

“No! I told you – you’re mine. Only mine.” 

Seeing him this irrational, Skylar knew talking was pointless. She turned to leave. 

That’s when Aiden spoke up. 

“Skylar’s her own person. She doesn’t belong to anyone. If you can’t respect her choices, she has every right to walk away.” 

Without waiting for Callias’s reaction, he turned to Skylar. 

“It’s almost four. Ready to go?” 

She met his eyes and nodded firmly. 

Watching them turn away, something in Callias snapped. 

He lunged for Skylar’s shoulder.

But Aiden was faster, pulling her safely behind him while pushing Callias back. The force sent him stumbling into a stone planter. 

“Violence isn’t an answer when you don’t get your way,” Aiden said coldly. “Grown men 

should know better.” 

Callias scrambled up, ignoring his scraped arms, rage blazing in his eyes. 

Before he could attack, campus security surrounded him. 

Seeing the situation contained, Aiden led Skylar away. 

He drove in understanding silence, asking no questions. 

His discretion made her uncomfortable. 

“About what happened…” she started carefully. “Could you keep it private?”
