“Let everyone at the office know–they’re getting off early today to go home and watch Thousand Lives.” Louis sat behind his desk, calling Derek in to give the order. Then he added pointedly, “No voluntary overtime either.”

Freya, sitting beside him typing on her laptop, looked up, a little flustered.

“Isn’t that a bit much? You’re making it sound mandatory. Where’s your cold, tyrant CEO image now? You’re dragging your standards down.”

“Don’t worry. They’re still getting paid. I’m giving them time off to go home and watch a drama. They’ll only thank you for it,” Louis said, completely unbothered. “Besides, other companies are always forcing dumb things on their employees. I’m just making one reasonable request. Totally fair.”

Derek had gotten used to watching Louis drop his icy persona around Freya. He tried not to laugh as he backed Louis up with an exaggeratedly serious tone.

“He’s right. People will be grateful, not annoyed. Watching a show beats overtime any day. I mean, other companies are always forcing corporate brainwashing or those ridiculous ‘team–building exercises. Compared to that, this is a dream.”

And it really was. Compared to those companies that pushed toxic ‘wolf culture‘ and constant slogans and voting games, theirs was pure bliss. One little favor from the boss, and that was it? Honestly, it was a gift.

The employees who received the announcement were ecstatic. Getting paid to go home and watch a show? No vacation time deducted? On top of that, the boss even handed out snack money? This was the peak of workplace happiness.
