By the time Magdalen arrived at the 9th Mansion, night had already fallen.
She had come with Sylvia.
After calling Estelle about the get-together, Magdalen rang up Sylvia to fill her in on the details.
Magdalen had her own agenda. With Gabriel still hanging around J City, and Estelle and Jonathan coming over, it was a sure bet they'd drag him along.
Even if there wasn't a spark between the two before, Magdalen figured that given a few more chances, something might ignite.
It was strange, Magdalen just couldn't shake the feeling that Gabriel and Sylvia were a match made in heaven.
At first, Sylvia had declined the invitation, but she couldn't withstand Magdalen's persistent enthusiasm and finally agreed to join her.
They thought it was just another gathering with Magdalen's girlfriends until they stood outside the 9th Mansion and spotted Gabriel and Evelyn stepping out of a car.
Dragging a dazed Sylvia along, Magdalen called out, "Gabriel."
Gabriel's gaze swept briefly over Sylvia's face, his features cool and imposing, "You and Estelle should just call me brother. Here, there's only Gabriel, no Gabriel."
Magdalen still wore an expression of reverence, "So, should I call you Gabriel?"
"That'll do," Gabriel nodded.
Meanwhile, Sylvia greeted him, "Mr. Carnes."
That afternoon, he had told her they shouldn't meet up for a while, yet here they were, less than three hours later, face to face again.
Such a small world.
Just as Magdalen was about to ask Gabriel if he remembered Sylvia, she saw Evelyn cozy up to Gabriel and sweetly called out, "Gabriel."
Magdalen's eyes widened slightly in surprise.
"Wow, Ms. Sampson, you've even managed to bring Mr. Carnes to the table." Carson teased Magdalen.
"I don't have that kind of clout. It was all Ella's doing," Magdalen replied with a radiant smile.
After the introductions and small talk, Timothy, who had come with Carson, caught sight of Sylvia and his eyes lit up. He reached out to her, "Miss Jarvis, I've heard so much about you. I never imagined I'd have the pleasure of meeting you in person. Truly, the belle of J City's business world."
Sylvia returned a polite smile, shaking his hand, "Timothy, you flatter me."
Timothy seemed reluctant to let go, "Our company is in dire need of someone with your capabilities, Miss Jarvis. Why don't you come work with us? It would be far better than slaving away at your PR firm, wouldn't it?"
Gabriel, who was chatting with Charlie, cast a fleeting glance at Timothy.
Sylvia smoothly withdrew her hand, "You jest, Timothy. I earn my keep through my skills, not by being a mere decoration in your office."
Magdalen walked over with a smirk, "Timothy, the drinks haven't even started, and you're already seeing double? If you're looking to show off your wealth, perhaps you've picked the wrong venue?"
