Chapter 669
Emily looked at her phone, her eyes gradually turning red. She took a deep breath and slowly replied, “Tonight, 9th Mansion. You go prepare.”
Tonight? Alright, I’ll get ready immediately. Let’s stay in touch, and I’ll send you the room number later“]
Noreen’s message was filled with excitement
Emily turned off her phone, her gaze resolute as she got up and left
She took a cab to the 9th Mansion When she amved, it was already pitch black outside. It was her first time in such a place. She knew it had complete entertainment facilities and was a place for the rich to have fun.
She stayed in the lobby for a moment, confirmed the room number, and was led by the waller towards the private room where her colleagues were having dinner She knocked on the door and entered Everyone in the room looked over, and Emily’s gaze immediately locked onto Charlie, who was seated in the main seat. It had been a while since he had forcefully kissed her that night, and they hadn’t seen each other since. It hadn’t been long, but it felt like a lifetime had passed. Charlie was as handsome and elegant as ever–a fiue noble son. He looked at her calmly, hiding emotions she couldn’t understand
Emily quickly averted her gaze, lowering her head to apologize, Tm sorry, I’m later
“Emily, there’s a seat here,” called out a male colleague with whom she had a good friendship.
Charlie watched Emily walk towards the colleague who had called her over and laughed, I was late too, but you’re even later”
The department head thought Charlie was blaming Emily and quickly explained, ‘Emily was sick for two days, and she had some work piled up, so she had to stay late”
Charlie looked over and frowned, ‘Sick? What kind of sickness?‘
Emily kept her head down and didn’t answer
The head of the department hurriedly said, “Emily, Mr. James is worried about you, please reply!”
“Huh?” Emily finally raised her head and slowly replied, “It’s nothing, just a cold. Thanks for your concern, Mr. James.”
“Since you’re sick, you should rest. You can slowly finish your work later Charlie stared at her and spoke slowly.
A smile flickered in Charlie’s eyes as he spoke, ‘She’s still young Mr Sherill, please take good care of her, especially when it comes to treating newcomers. I’ve noticed her working late in the office by herself multiple times after work I hope this won’t happen again.”
The department head’s expression changed slightly upon hearing Charlie’s words. He glanced at Rachel and quickly responded with a laugh, “Yes, Mr. James is absolutely right. I promise I won’t allow Emily to work overtime anymore.”
Rachel’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she didn’t dare to meet Charlie’s gaze. This was her first time having a meal with him, and she couldn’t help but feel that despite his gentle appearance, he always exuded a commanding presence.
Soon, the department head changed the subject and others began to offer their drinks to Charlie. The atmosphere gradually warmed up.
Charlie thought Emily had some kind of gripe with him after that night’s incident, which made him feel a little depressed.
He had kissed her, did she really resent and even hate him for that?
