"It was an absolute mandate from my grandfather. I had to bring you. Just look at it as doing me a huge favor!" Adrian laughed easily.

"Well, I can't go back in there," Norah said firmly. "I'll pop back in to say a quick goodbye to your grandpa, and then I'm heading home."

Massive LED screens, a stunning heart-shaped floral archway, and thousands of fairy lights and balloons were all perfectly staged, ready to ignite the moment he bared his soul to Norah.

Adrian had poured every ounce of his heart into the planning. He needed tonight to be flawless, creating a memory so breathtakingly romantic that Norah would be completely swept off her feet and say yes.

As eight o'clock approached, Norah's phone buzzed with a text from Adrian, telling her to meet him in the gardens.

Assuming Sara had finally arrived, Norah stood up and began making her way toward the lush outdoors.

"Obviously!" another replied with a scoff. "Great-uncle hasn't been back in years, and who knows when he'll ever visit again. That's exactly why Adrian dragged her here to parade her around."
