Emily looked at the ceiling in a daze.
She now knew that Mrs. Brent was the one who set her up and that Franklin knew everything about it. She was the only one who didn't know anything.
She hated Mrs. Brent. She really hated Mrs. Brent.
She had never hated anyone so much. Even if she had been bullied by Anthony and his family in the past, it was because she had occupied their position. They were afraid that she would steal something from their family, which was bad for them, so they treated her badly. Based on this, she was angry but did not hate them.
But Mrs. Brent was different. She had never done anything wrong to Mrs. Brent. Why was Mrs. Brent so cruel to let her suffer the most unbearable pain that a woman could not endure which made her become like this today?
But apart from hating her, Emily didn't know what else to do.
Originally, she thought that Franklin didn't know what Mrs. Brent had done, so she still counted on Franklin, hoping that he could find out his conscience and seek justice for her.
But now, it turned out that he already knew. However, mother and son had deep feelings for each other, and her, a cannon fodder, could only become a victim.
"Don't be like this. Eat something!" Lisa advised.
The stillness in her eyes was heartbreaking. Even Lisa, who was ruthless and hardhearted, could not bear it.
"I don't want to eat." Emily shook her head.
Lisa frowned and said after a moment of silence, "I know you're very angry now. What Mrs. Brent did before was really unkind. But now if you torture yourself, it will only make your kinsfolk hurt and enemies happy. Mrs. Brent will only feel happy when she knows about this."
"Ah. Get kinsfolk hurt and make the enemy happy. Who is the kinfolk, and who is the enemy?" Emily sneered.
"I know you're angry with Mr. Brent too. You think that he knows the truth but doesn't seek justice for you. He knows the truth and... But who knows the pain in Mr. Brent's heart? He is such a proud person but he begged Mrs. Brent so that he could find you. He is such a low-key person. But he didn't hesitate to appear in public in order to let you know that he is fine. But you didn't run according to the route I arranged in advance. No one knew where you ran to, and then there was no news of you. You didn't know how many times Mr. Brent had asked me with a dead heart that whether you were no longer in this world. That Mr. Brent was really heartbreaking. Not to mention Mr. Brent, even Jason and I were angry with you at that time. Knowing that Mr. Brent was fine, why didn't you come back and why did you still hide outside?"
"So is it all my fault?" Emily sneered.
Lisa shook her head and said, "Of course, I know it's not your fault. I can only say that the god of destiny makes fools of the people. Of course, it can also be said that someone causes all of these and Mrs. Brent is definitely the culprit. So if I were you, I would definitely take revenge instead of lying here and feeling sorry for myself. Could it be that crying and being sad could make you take revenge and find the child?"
"Then tell me what to do," Emily snorted and said, "I was hoping that Franklin didn't know about this before. And I thought that he would seek justice for me when he knew about it. But it proved that he already knew about it, but he did nothing. What could I do?"
"I never think that one has to rely on anyone else to get justice back. Maybe I am in a different situation from Miss Johnson. I know I have to rely on myself since I was a child," Lisa said.
Emily blushed when she heard Lisa's words. Then she smiled bitterly and said, "I have to rely on myself since I was a child too."
"In that case, why do you want Mr. Brent to seek justice for you? Can't you do it yourself?"
"Myself?"
"What is the thing that Mrs. Brent fears most?" Lisa asked.
