Ryan’s jaw clenched and dead silence fell upon the room as he tried to take in Lora’s words.
'So, Ivy has been lying to me all this while? How long has it been since she could walk?' Ryan mused, disappointment creeping into him.
It all made sense… Ivy’s refusal to hire experts who could treat her legs. The way she insisted on always being treated by her physiotherapist and no one else…
Deep down, he had been suspecting that there was something wrong. Even if she refused Ryan's help, Ivy was from a wealthy family and they couldn't fail to find expert doctors who could help her walk again.
However, he couldn’t directly ask about it since she got hurt because of him… it would make him look ungrateful if he became suspicious.
Who knew she had been lying to him for so long? It made him wonder just how many lies she’s told.
“Lora… I’ve really been a fool. To think I hurt you a lot all because of Ivy’s deception... I swear, I’ll never forgive her for this. She’s going to pay and regret ever deceiving and playing with me,” Ryan said through gritted teeth.
Lora’s eyes widened in shock. “You believe me?”
She didn’t expect Ryan to believe her since he had always believed Ivy.
Ryan sighed, his heart breaking. His hatred for Ivy grew when he realised it would take some time for Lora to trust him again.
He glanced at Lora and said, “Of course, I believe you. What reason would you have to lie about such a thing? Ivy is most likely to lie about such things.”
When Ivy plagiarised Lora’s work and tried to play victim, Ryan realised what kind of a two-faced woman she was. How had he been so blind to the truth?
He recalled her constant pleas for help, the way she always used her legs to manipulate him and anger flared through him. How dare she make a fool out of him?
Ryan had been genuinely feeling guilty about Ivy’s legs, thinking he was the reason she would never get to walk again. She kept him in the dark for so many years and played him like a puppet. In the end, he lost something more precious to him than anything.
The guilt Ryan felt toward Ivy instantly disappeared into thin air. She might have saved him in the past, but her actions right now were unforgivable. Not only did she lie about her condition to manipulate him, but she also kidnapped and attempted to kill Lora.
“I was surprised that she was still in her wheelchair even after six years and I thought something was amiss but it wasn't my business… however, I was more shocked when she appeared in front of me in the warehouse walking with her two legs. She even boasted of me dying with her secret… I guess she didn’t think I would survive,” Lora scoffed, shaking her head.
