Charles Kingsley narrowed his eyes. He glanced at Lora and asked, “Why not? In the eyes of the law, you two are still husband and wife.”
“Um-”
“Grandpa, Lora and I will work things out by ourselves,” Ryan said and Lora gave him a grateful look.
“If you say so… I’m just glad that Larisa is alive! So, when am I meeting my grandkids?” Charles asked and Lora’s eyes widened.
“You even know about the twins?” Lora’s face had a question mark. Did Ryan’s grandfather ask someone to investigate her?
Charles nodded proudly and answered, “Of course. I found out first before everyone else. However, I won’t tell you how… it’s a secret.”
“Twins? What twins?” Diane asked, feeling confused and then a lightbulb went off in her head. Her mouth rounded in shock before she exclaimed, “You and Ryan have twins? So, I’m an aunt?”
Lora nodded, a smile forming on her lips at the thought of her children. She replied, “Yes. A boy and a girl. I’m sure they will be happy to meet you, Diane.”
“Ah! I can’t wait! I’m an aunt! I’m going to spoil them rotten!” Diane proclaimed. “Oh Ryan, who knew you were already a father? Congratulations bro.”
Ryan nodded but sadness crept into his heart. His children don’t know he exists. He didn’t blame Lora because of the past. She must have felt the need to fake her death because she was hurt…
It was all his fault for being so stupid. How could he believe Ivy's deception so easily? In the end, he lost plenty of time. The time that he was away from his family could never be regained and that's a regret he would have to live with for the rest of his life.
Ryan never wanted to be like his father. He always thought that if he had kids, he would be there for them no matter what. Knowing he had missed six years hurt him a lot.
‘Will they accept me?’ He couldn’t help but worry.
Ryan was a powerful businessman who rarely got nervous. However, when it came to Lora and his children whom he had never met, he couldn’t help being nervous. He was afraid they wouldn’t want him in their lives since he wasn’t present in the first place.
“Oh, by the way, Dad said he will visit you tomorrow since Celeste is not feeling well,” Diane added and Ryan frowned.
“He shouldn’t come. I don’t want him here,” he responded coldly.
“He’s still our father, Ryan and I’m sure he’s worried about you-”
“If he’s so worried, why couldn’t he visit his son now? That woman beside him keeps poisoning him. When will he wake up?” Charles remarked, feeling frustrated.
“Just forget about him… I don’t care if he comes or not,” Ryan said, his eyebrows knitting in anger.
Lora noticed this and reached over to hold and squeeze his hand. She uttered, “Hey, calm down. Remember what the doctor said? You shouldn’t get worked up.”
When he felt Lora’s hand on his, Ryan smiled widely. He replied, “I’ll be calm as long as you’re here.”
Charles watched their interaction and a small smile plastered his lips. He suddenly cleared his throat and said, “I talked to the doctor before I came here… Ryan needs a lot of care at this stage. His burns are pretty bad and they can scar if he doesn’t receive extra care.”
