It was safe to say Amara's request had stunned Helios into silence, because for the first few minutes, he remained quiet and unmoving, staring at her as if waiting for the punchline.
However, Amara didn't utter another word, just continued staring at him with a look that clearly said she was not kidding.
This had Helios blinking a few times, just to make sure he had heard correctly.
Had Amara's serious asked him to punch the one person she always treated like gold?
The one person she showered with attention to the point of making him feel suffocated and discomforted?
The very same attention that he didn't get in his family as the illegitimate child and envied and at some point wished to receive?
Was he mistaken?
Helios looked at Amara, wondering what she had eaten and drunk that made her ask him of all people to punch the very man who he had always assumed was a god to her.
"You want me to punch," He pointed at Tobias. "Him?"
Amara nodded her head and the look on her face didn't change, still dead serious and determined. "Yes. Can you do it?"
Helios looked back at Tobias, whose brows were furrowed then back at Amara before smiling. “Well, if he’s upset you, I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t-“
“Are you two done?” Tobias cut him off, looking irritated.
Helios merely flashed him a smile, whereas Amara looked irritated by his manners which needed obvious fixing.
After sending Helios a not-so-friendly look, Tobias turned his attention back to his ex wife. “Is this your new tactics to gain men attention? Asking them to punch someone?”
“Not at all.” Amara clarified. “Actually, listening to you speak, irritated me to the point of wanting to take a swing at you, and since I’m too much of a lady, I called the next best thing.”
Tobias was stunned by Amara’s reply, but his face did not reflect the surprise he felt.
“So to answer your question, No, I want trying to get any man’s attention,” Amara smiled. “I was simply trying to get rid of you, Understood?”
At this point, Tobias was clearly pissed. Amara could see the irritation swimming in his dark orbs and that was enough to compensate for him ruining her night.
Smirking, she turned around and began heading back into Giovanni, obviously to get Melanie and leave. As Tobias saw her walking away, he tried to go after her, but Helios quickly stepped in front of him and blocked his path.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Tobias’s voice was calm, but the storm in his eyes portrayed a different story.
“Let her go, Tobias, don’t cause a scene.” Helios advised
“Step aside.” Tobias demanded.
Helios did not move, instead, he stood his ground and said. “Go back home, Tobias, the night is ending and you’ve had enough fun.”
“You,” Tobias sneered. “You should know your place. Don’t overstep.”
“Tobias,”
“Helios.” Tobias said in warning, daring the man before him to say another word. “You have ten seconds to stop sticking your nose into my business, or else-“
“Or else what?” Helios’s challenge caught Tobias off guard, not because it was the first time Helios had stood up to him, but the first time Helios had stood up to him, over a lady!
And then it clicked.
“She caught you?” Tobias laughed. “Of all the people in the world, she caught you.” Soon, the smile on his face faded and Tobias looked far from pleased. “You’ve got balls Edgar, having feelings for my wife-“
