Yanis stood there, flipping through the pages, one by one. Each page was meticulously detailed with cooking instructions and estimated time.
For Yanis, the previous Olivia had been nothing short of a wicked stepmother. Yanis even felt that Olivia resembled the malicious queen, and she herself was Cinderella.
"Mrs. Lawrence?"
Seeing Yanis standing there, absorbed in the notebook and with teary eyes, Aunt Alice cautiously called out.
Upon hearing Aunt Alice's voice, Yanis came back to her senses and looked up. "What's the matter?"
"Are you okay?"
Yanis closed the notebook and shook her head gently. "I'm fine, don't worry."
Aunt Alice didn't press further. "I'll put away these things then."
Yanis nodded, took the notebook, and headed upstairs.
Once in her bedroom, Yanis took a deep breath and walked over to the bed, lying down.
The notebook she held suddenly felt a bit warm. Every word was written neatly and meticulously. She recognized that handwriting-it was Olivia's.
Antonio had left around nine o'clock the previous night. It must have been around ten-thirty when he arrived home. Even if Olivia hadn't slept, it must have taken her the entire night until now to write down all these recipes.
Yanis couldn't quite describe her feelings at the moment; she only felt a heaviness in her chest.
Yanis remained in that position for a while before finally moving. She reached for her phone, contemplating for a moment before dialing Bonnie's number.
The call connected, and Bonnie answered immediately. "Yanis?"
Yanis hummed. "Is Myles feeling better?"
"Much better. She's sleeping right now. I'm planning to take a shower and head to the store." Bonnie's voice sounded a bit distant, likely on speakerphone as she multitasked.
Yanis paused for a few seconds. "Are you at the cottage or Cooke Residence?"
"Cooke Residence. After all, Myles needs someone with her. I'm going to have my dad watch over her for a bit. There's some work at the store today that I need to handle in person."
Yanis hummed again. "Busy as always?"
Bonnie's voice got closer. "Yeah, there's quite a bit to do. We're planning to move soon, so there's a lot to take care of. Plus, I need to check out the new location. It's a busy time. Just rest and recover properly. Linda and I can handle everything. Once you're stable, I can finally take a break."
Listening to Bonnie, Yanis chuckled and responded, "Well, I have ten more months to go, plus another year of postpartum confinement. You'll be busy this whole year."
Bonnie let out a sound of agreement. "You're right. But once in a while, Linda and I can handle things. You focus on taking care of yourself. These are important times."
Yanis sighed softly. "Alright, I'm done talking. You go ahead and take care of your tasks."
Bonnie hummed. "By the way, how about dinner tomorrow night?"
