A stinging slap on the face for no reason rose Baron’s anger, but he calmed himself when he saw Yuri’s teary face.
“I think you misunderstood me,” Baron said.
Hardly had Baron finished his words, Tracy rushed into the room, “Yuri, are you all right?” She rushed here as soon as she heard from Baron that Yuri was in the Royal Hotel.
“Tracy!” Holding Tracy, Yuri started bawling.
Baron walked out of the room, saying nothing, because he believed Tracy would explain everything to Yuri.
Yuri cried for a very long time, and then she said through gritted teeth, “Tracy, Baron is a jerk. You should divorce him, the sooner, the better.”
Looking wonderingly at Yuri, Tracy said, “Why do you say that? If it wasn't for him, you might have been raped by Wallace.”
“What?!”
Yuri stared at her, unable to believe Tracy’s words, “You mean, Baron saved me?”
Yuri recalled that she was dead drunk all the time, so in fact she didn’t know what happened at all.
Until Tracy told her the truth, Yuri eventually realized she misunderstood Baron.
She blamed herself at the thought of the smack she gave Baron.
“Tracy, I… I misunderstood him just now,” said Yuri.
“Take it easy. He won't blame you,” said Tracy.
“But I gave him a smack,” Yuri said guiltily.
“What?!” Tracy’s eyes were widened in surprise.
After a long time, when Tracy and Yuri came out of the room, Baron was standing at the window, looking at the distance blankly.
Hearing the noise, Baron turned to look at them. “I'll drive you home,” he said and left.
Staring after him, Yuri felt guilty and full of remorse.
After half-an-hour's drive, they arrived at the Perry courtyard.
Tracy hesitated for a moment and said, “Do you want to have a look at Lara? She misses you very much.”
Yuri also hoped he could stay here, and then she would have the chance to apologize for the slap.
Baron looked at his watch and then shook his head, “It's very late now. I don't want to bother her. I will see her next time.”
“Well.” Tracy didn't know what to say.
“I should go back. Good night,” Baron said and drove away.
Until the car was out of sight, Yuri shouted out in tears, “Baron! Sorry!”
But her apology was swallowed by the darkness.
Baron had just arrived at the Peak Hotel when Tracy called. As he picked up the phone, a clear sound came from the other end immediately, “Daddy, I miss you very much!”
A smile lifted the corner of his mouth at the sound of Lara’s voice. The daughter made him feel warm and happy, “Lara, it's rather late now. You should have slept now.”
“Daddy, I just can't, because I miss you so,” Lara said, with a slight whimper in her voice.
Then Tracy’s voice came through the line, “Baron, let’s try video chat. Then Lara could see you.”
The video was connected soon. Baron saw Lara, in her cartoon pajamas, lying in Tracy's arms.
“Daddy!” Lara cried joyfully.
Her voice was so heartwarming that Baron almost melted, “Lara, Good evening.”
“Daddy, could you go home tomorrow? I really hope to live with Mom and Dad,” Lara said hopefully.
Baron felt quite bitter about the words. Actually he did want to live with his daughter, but Sherry, Tracy’s mother, refused him, because she hated him so much.
“When Daddy finishes his work, he will go home, OK?” Tracy said gently.
