Joseph looked past Noah and looked at Chloe.
She was wearing a baggy home attire, and her short hair that draped casually over her shoulders was tucked behind her ears. Her skin was pale, making her look unhealthy. She stared at him blankly.
Joseph felt like he was frozen as she looked at her firmly and gloomily.
"Are you sick?
“Don't be scared. Tell me."
The first question was out of concern. The second statement sounded like an indication but with a clear meaning. He would risk everything and take her away if she told him to.
Noah was all smiles and looked quite charming. "Mr. Joseph, are you blind? Isn't Coco standing before you safe and sound?"
Joseph ignored him and continued staring at Chloe. His love was clear for anyone to see. After she returned from abroad, he kept a distance from her in public. He behaved prudently to prevent her from being the center of gossip. However, he could not control his feelings in private. He exposed them and repented sincerely.
It was the first time he was laying everything on the table recklessly. He did not want her to suffer. That would hurt deeper than if he was stabbed.
Noah was not angry. His smile deepened. He was a cunning and schematic wolf in sheep's clothing. His smile brought a frown to Joseph's face. Joseph inexplicably felt something wrong, but for the moment, he could not pinpoint it.
"Coco, tell me. Do you want to go with him?" Noah said as he looked at Chloe, the sarcasm in his light tone obvious.
Chloe blinked slowly. She looked up at Joseph in a daze. The latter had his eyes glued on her.
"Coco, Mr. Joseph is asking you if you want to go with him," Noah whispered in her ear gently.
His statement roused her. Her dazed eyes became clear as she answered, "Why would I want to go with him? Am I supposed to let him hurt me a second time through Xavia?"
