Losing to My Substitute (Katerina and Joshu) novel Chapter 4

Chapter 4

“Since you don’t want them, we won’t make it up then. Don’t regret it later.”

As they spoke, the three carefully watched Katerina’s reaction.

But she remained calm, her expression neutral. “Don’t worry, I won’t regret it.”

That evening. Mr. and Mrs. Green returned from their business trip abroad.

At the family dinner, Bethany, as the daughter of a servant, was supposed to help her mother in the kitchen.

But Andrew grabbed her hand and pressed down on her shoulder to make her sit in the seat beside him.

“There are plenty of people in the kitchen. Just sit here and eat with us.”

Bethany awkwardly tried to stand up, but Ethan and Tony both held her hands, gesturing for her to stay seated.

Seeing this scene, Mr. and Mrs. Green’s expressions darkened with displeasure, but they said nothing.

Mrs. Green deliberately ignored her three sons and looked kindly at Katerina:

“Kate, yesterday was your birthday. Who did you choose to marry? I’ve already picked out venues for the wedding banquet.

Such a joyous occasion should be celebrated grandly – we can’t let you be shortchanged.”

At these words, all three brothers fell silent.

The dinner table became deathly quiet.

Andrew chimed in: “I was too busy to go too. Anyway, since Kate hasn’t chosen yet, we can discuss marriage later!”

As their responses increasingly fueled Mr. and Mrs. Green’s anger, just as they were about to explode, Katerina received a photo of a ring from Joshua.

The ring in the photo was a pigeon egg–sized heart–shaped pink diamond, surrounded by countless tiny diamonds, dazzling and resplendent.
