Chapter 13

Elena sniffled and held back her

ars. Even a woman would feel sorry at the sight.

Andrew, however, was pissed. He growled, “Rowan-”

“Darling, head in first. I’ll take care of the situation,” Madelyn cut him off, nodding at him and signaling that she wanted to handle Elena by herself.

His reply was rather suggestive, “Fine, then. But make it quick. I’m starving.”

Madelyn noticed Elena’s pale face from the corner of her eye. She then glared at Andrew. “Go, now.”

Since when had Andrew become so sweet and clingy? He was no longer the venerable and heartless leader of Miller Group.

Andrew shot a warning look at Elena, who was slumped to the floor. The difference in his attitude sent a shiver down her spine. Refusing to believe he was ignoring her, she attempted to latch to his leg.

What followed was a horrifying scream that reverberated through Serenity Villa. Madelyn had brutally stepped on Elena’s wrist. Elena’s face turned white from the pain when Madelyn stopped her attempt at reaching out to Andrew.

Rowan and Jason snapped around when they heard the scream, and they tensed up at the sight. They thought Madelyn would only show her cruelty toward Andrew. When did she start treating her family in the same manner?

Still, they admitted the sight was cathartic.

“Let go!” When Andrew left, Elena spitefully attempted to shake off Madelyn’s hand.

Madelyn released her. Their eyes met–Elena’s filled with resentment while Madelyn’s with mockery.

Madelyn taunted her, “Have you given up on your act?”

It appeared that Elena had finally revealed her true colors.

Scrambling up from the ground, Elena hissed out the words, “Madelyn, what do you gain from Garcia Group’s downfall? Do you think the Millers will show you respect without the backing of our family?”

Madelyn sneered, “Thanks to your manipulation over the years, the Millers hate me even though I’m from the Garcia family.”

The color drained from Elena’s face. She suspected that Madelyn had uncovered the

truth, but how was that possible? After all, Madelyn was a dimwit. Did Andrew lend her a hand in the investigation?

Elena’s face paled at the thought of Andrew’s hostile attitude and his merciless way of dealing with Garcia Group.

“Send Caleb Garcia a message for me. If he wants to protect Garcia Group…” Madelyn deliberately paused as she flashed a malicious grin at Elena.

Elena had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.

Chuckling, Madelyn continued, “To protect Garcia Group, he’ll have to kick his favorite daughter out of the family.”

“W–What are you talking about?” Elena gasped when she learned that Madelyn wanted her out of the Garcia family.

Madelyn marched into the villa while replying in an unusually adamant tone, “He has to pick between you and Garcia Group.”

Elena curled her fist and trembled in fury. She bellowed at Madelyn’s figure, “Don’t you ever dream about that! Garcia Group is mine. Dad will hand it to me!”

At last, Elena exposed her true and evil intentions. The smile faded from Madelyn’s face. She said to Elena, “If so, I shall grant your wish. Garcia Group will be a hollow shell!”

“You-” Elena wondered if Madelyn was dead set on ruining Garcia Group from within. She doubted Madelyn’s ability to do so. Since Madelyn had a fraught relationship with Andrew for years, he was unlikely to make such a huge move on her behalf.

She fumed silently, “Does she really believe that she has secured her position as Mrs. Miller just because I gave her a taste of it?”

Andrew was waiting for Madelyn at the dining hall when she entered the villa. After washing her hands, she took her seat beside him.

“Wow, these are all my favorite dishes.”

“Darling, I want shrimp. Can you deshell them for me?” Madelyn loved shrimp, but she hated deshelling them as it was a tedious task.
