- Chapter 28Madelyn knew that she was doomed this time.
She hadn’t expected Grace and Athena to find George. George had always been on Elena’s side. He had served her as if she were the future mistress of Serenity Villa.
Now that they had brought him here, things weren’t looking good for Madelyn.
Once again, it proved that any mistakes a person made would take a long time to fix.
Madelyn’s scalp prickled, and she turned to leave. However, Ryan stopped her. “Ms. Garcia, if you leave now, there’ll be no way to
explain things clearly.”
Madelyn’s expression froze. She stopped and turned back, and her hand shook as she gripped her phone tightly. She prayed fervently that Andrew would get back as soon as possible.
Ryan was right in front of her, and he would not allow her to delay any longer. She had no choice but to force herself to enter.
Upon seeing that Madelyn had returned, Grace looked at her. There was no warmth in her eyes, and Madelyn couldn’t help swallowing
“What’s George doing here?” She went over to Grace, her tone both aggrieved and slightly annoyed.
There wasn’t anything wrong with her reacting this way, was there? After all, she had fired George. It was natural for her to be angry about him suddenly appearing at the Miller residence.
Neither Grace nor Athena answered her question. They looked at George instead. “George, you may leave.”
“Yes, Madam Grace.” George stood up shakily. He took one look at Madelyn before turning to leave.
Madelyn wondered what he had meant by that look.
After George left, the entire living room felt chilly. Madelyn looked at Grace and Athena, both of whom looked grim.
She wondered if George had told them everything.
However, he had no idea that she had injured Andrew! Was this another plot of Elena’s? Had she bribed George to come and tell tales on Madelyn?
Multiple thoughts raced through her mind. As she was unsure about what George had said, she tugged tentatively on Grace’s sleeve.
Mom?”
Athena and Grace both turned to look at her.
Madelyn was confused.
What were they doing? Were they trying to glare her to death?
Her mind had gone slightly blank, and she didn’t know how to react. After all, they would never forgive her for injuring Andrew. Would it be appropriate for her to try and defend herself?
Grace spoke up, but it was hard to tell what she was feeling, “Maddie.”
“Yes, Mom?”
“You did the right thing!”
What was going on? What had George said? Was their reaction just the calm before the storm?
