Chapter 57
Amelia and Caleb felt embarrassed as Madelyn was ignoring them. Elena wasn’t here today. They had expected Madelyn to lead them to bring them to Athena so they could get details on what happened yesterday. Yet, Madelyn showed no interest in engaging with them.
Amelia ground her teeth in frustration. “What a bitch.”
Caleb glanced at her. “Ask Mrs. Miller Senior about the situation when you give her the gift.”
Their main focus today was to uncover what happened yesterday and seek Athena’s help. They believed Andrew was the one responsible for Elena being detained by the police. Knowing Athena used to adore Elena, they hoped she could intervene with Andrew on their behalf.
Amelia nodded. “Got it.”
At the birthday celebration, Athena and Grace were mingling with the guests. When Grace saw Madelyn, she waved cheerfully and called, Maddie, come over here.”
Madelyn released Andrew’s arm and made her way toward Grace.
Today’s guests at the Miller residence were prominent figures in high society. Many were surprised to see Madelyn. Most had only seen her at her wedding with Andrew, where they saw their relationship fall apart.
Since then, Elena had frequently been seen with Athena. Alongside the recent arguments between Elena and Madelyn, everyone assumed that Madelyn and Andrew were headed for divorce. Now, it seemed the reality wasn’t what they expected.
Madeiyi. approached Grace and hooked her arm affectionately. “Mom.
“What are you wearing?” Grace asked, noticing Madelyn wasn’t in the gown Ashley had designed for her.
Madelyn scrunched her nose in irritation. “Andrew insisted I wear his own design. He wouldn’t let me wear yours.”
Grace chuckled in response. She knew Madelyn and Andrew’s relationship had recently gotten better, but she hadn’t expected it to blossom this much. Grace was pleased for Andrew. She hoped. Madelyn wasn’t deceiving him.
In those days, Grace pitied Andrew as she watched him endure sleepless nights due to Madelyn. She held some resentment toward Madelyn during that time. Now, as Grace watched Andrew nearby, his calm demeanor made her realize that their previous conflicts had. faded into insignificance.
“I’ll go see Grandma first,” Madelyn said.
“Go ahead,” Grace replied softly.
