My heart started to race, pounding in my chest… I had been the one who wanted to flirt and test him, but now that he was actually responding, I found myself losing my nerve. 

I breathed heavily and only managed to stammer, “Brandon, you…” 

However, he took a step forward, cutting off my words and instinctively making me step back. 

With that single step, he was no longer standing at the door, but rather inside my room. I found myself pressed against the shoe cabinet, both of us still holding the bowl of oatmeal. 

I had to admit, he had impressive control. Despite the tugging and pulling between us, the oatmeal hadn’t spilled a drop. 

My heart was racing, nearly pounding out of my chest, but Brandon didn’t say anything. He just stood there, incredibly close, staring at me. 

I couldn’t bring myself to meet his gaze. A wave of regret washed over me as I wondered why I had thought it was a good idea to provoke him. 

Lisa had encouraged me, but she had also warned me that men couldn’t resist being teased. I acted on a whim and did something stupid. But what was done was done. Regret was useless now. 

I forced myself to stay calm because only by keeping my cool could I handle Brandon. I could tell he was affected, that my little stunt had gotten to him. 

He was struggling to contain himself. It was evident from the veins 

standing out on his forehead. 

“The oatmeal’s here. You can go now,” I said this sentence while holding my breath. 

Brandon didn’t move or respond. 

“Bran-” 

“Mae…” He interrupted me. His voice was low and hoarse, like a feather brushing across my heart. 

I felt like all my nerves were on the verge of breaking down, and an indescribable sensation was rising in my body. 

*Hmm?” 

My voice trembled somewhat seductively. I quickly bit my lip, afraid to make any more sounds. I never expected to see this side of myself. It was so embarrassing. 

Brandon’s Adam’s apple bobbed rapidly under my gaze. The next moment, he used his other hand to cup my head, pressing it against his chest. 

His deep voice rumbled in my ear. “Don’t say a word.”

My eyes widened. I wondered if he was implying he had those kinds of thoughts about me 

‘Stay still and be good.” His large hand stroked my hair to keep me still, but he moved closer and held me tighter.
