Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 1056

"Let's go!" Baldwin finally said.

He reached out and wrapped an arm around Martha, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. It was his way of telling her to stop being so stubborn.

On the way back, Logan drove while Lisa sat in the passenger seat. Martha and Baldwin sat in the back, and no one spoke throughout the journey.

Logan drove back to the Carline residence. As they stepped out of the car, he took Lisa's hand, and together, they settled on the living room couch.

"Logan, you cut ties with the Cohens for this reason, didn't you?" Baldwin was the first to speak.

Logan sat upright on the sofa. Although he and his soon-to-be father-in-law had once been as close as father and son, he was now tense. "Yes, I've had feelings for Liz for a long time."

"Have you also been searching for your birth parents for a long time?" Baldwin continued.

"Since I turned 18," Logan replied, making Lisa's heart skip a beat.

That meant he had loved her back then—enough to consider marrying and spending his life with her.

But at that time, she hadn't felt the same way. She saw him only as her uncle and even confided in him about her feelings for Keith.

Those days must have been hard on him—his heart must have ached more than he ever let on.

"How long have the two of you been together?" Baldwin asked again.

"Just these past two months," Lisa quickly answered.

Baldwin looked at her, but her gaze was fixed on Martha. There was something off about her today. With her temperament, she should have exploded in anger by now. At the very least, Lisa and Logan each would've gotten a kick. Yet, she remained silent.

"What about Logan and Joelle?" Baldwin pressed on, scrutinizing his future son-in-law like only a father-in-law could.
