Chapter 17 Investing Two Billion for an Entry

Shortly after the Kennedy family banquet, Layla received an admission letter from Athena University.

Her admission as a postgraduate student there was explosive news in her social circle.

Layla frowned at his accusation. “Uncle Peter, did you check my bank records?”

That afternoon, Layla received a call from Peter.

His tone was serious. “Layla, is it true that you got into Athena University?”

“Of course, it’s true.”

She saw no reason to hide it; secrets didn’t stay hidden in their circle anyway.

peter sighed and asked, “So, did you pay your way into Athena University? Or did Logan help you?”

Layla frowned at his accusation.

“Uncle Peter, did you check my bank records?”

“I did it for your own good! Twenty billion! And you used it to bribe your way into Athena University? How will our family ever hold its head high? Do you have any sense of shame left?”

Peter sighed deeply and continued, “You go to Athena University right away and get the money back. You’re not going to attend this university!”

Peter’s attitude was firm, clearly convinced that Layla had used the money to secure her admission

Layla immediately knew Rachel must have instigated Peter to make this call.

However, she couldn’t reveal the land issue or let Rachel manipulate the situation against her.

Uncle Peter, the money can’t be retrieved anymore,” Layla said.

Peter’s face changed drastically. “What do we do now?”

“Uncle Peter, I genuinely want to attend this university. After all, I’m also part of the Kennedy family. The family business isn’t doing well, and I want to contribute more. Trust me, I’ll study hard and ensure that the twenty billion isn’t wasted.”

Layla spoke gently and persuasively, leaving Peter at a loss for words for a moment.

Peter hesitated upon hearing Logan’s suggestion.

“Of course,” Layla replied with a smile. “You’ve seen my academic performance since childhood. Getting admitted to Athena University as a postgraduate student is an achievement that brings honor to our family.”

With that, Peter remained silent.

Being able to attend postgraduate school at Athena University at the age of twenty–one was indeed a great source of pride for the family.

If it hadn’t been for Rachel suspecting Layla of using underhanded means and the mysterious disappearance of twenty billion. Peter wouldn’t have made this call.

After Peter hung up, Layla couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.

Layla said coldly, “If anyone from my family wishes to inspect my bank assets, kindly seek my consent beforehand.”

“Understood, Miss Kennedy,”

Layla hung up.

After investing twenty billion in that plot of land, her bank account was nearly depleted. Her father’s inheritance had always been kept in this account, with only Peter being aware of it.

It was surprising that he had also informed Rachel about such an important matter.

Clearly, Rachel was no ordinary person.

On the day of enrollment. Layla woke up early, and Maria had already prepared everything.

Watching Layla pack up alone. Maria couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Robinson should have come back to help, especially knowing that today is your enrollment day.”

He had seemed to disappear for the past few days. Why does he suddenly call today!

On the other end of the line came Zane’s low, amused voice “Congratulations on your first day of school.”

“You must have known my exam results for a while now, right?”

“Yeah, kind of.” There was a moment of silence on the other end. “Have you finished packing all the necessary items?”

Layla glanced at the complex.
