At 8:50 AM, Abigail arrived at the Winchester Group building.
As she walked through the office, employees greeted her
warmly.
“Ms. Winchester, good morning.”
“Ms. Winchester, congrats on your wedding.”
Abigail smiled and nodded in response, but once she was out of earshot, the chatter began.
“Can you believe she’s back in the office? If I were her, I’d just quit.”
Abigail heard some of their conversation, frowning slightly as she quickened her pace toward her office.
Passing by the break room, she overheard more gossip inside.
“I heard Abigail’s back at work today! Does she really think she still has a place here?”
Someone scoffed, adding, “That fake Winchester lady, swapped by mistake, has been taking someone else’s position for far too long. How shameless!”

erday?
“Spill the beans! I want all the details!”
“Abigail must know she was swapped by mistake and that her fiancé dumped her for the real Winchester daughter. So at her wedding, she intentionally looked for a new husband to embarrass both the Winchester and Fitzgerald families!”
“How despicable! Mr. Felix Fitzgerald was right to choose Ms. Yannis instead. They’re a perfect match. Abigail should have been kicked out of the group!”
Abigail couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
She had always considered herself diligent and kind, never showing any temper, even overlooking their occasional blunders.
It stung to realize that, in their attempts to flatter Caroline, they had resorted to belittling her so shamelessly.
Perhaps she had been too nice, leading them to believe she was an easy target.
As laughter erupted from the break room, Abigail knocked on the door.
The girls inside instantly changed their expressions upon seeing her.
“Ms. Winchester, you’re back! We’ve missed you so much…”

Abigail shot them a cold glance and reprimanded them,

“It’s nine o’clock–work time. What are you doing here? The Winchester Group has no room for slackers. If you think you can just come to work to gossip, you might as well leave right now!”
Silence fell over the room instantly.
This was the first time Abigail had scolded anyone so sternly in her two years with the company.
Several employees who had been gossiping lowered their heads, apologizing one after another.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Winchester. We’ll get back to work now.”
Abigail snorted, shot them a warning look, and walked away in her high heels.
After she left, another wave of sarcasm began.
“Why is she still so arrogant? Who knows who’s going to be the first to leave?”
“Enough. Let’s just get back to work.”
