"Thank goodness you had the foresight to install a tracking system in Miss Margot's phone, allowing us to find her so quickly. I'll get in touch with the bodyguards and the police right away."
Everett nodded in agreement.
...
As soon as Margot fainted, Jimmy's focus snapped back to Selena.
Selena took a deep breath to steady herself, pushing past her fear. "Jimmy, look, Everett's been nothing but ruthless to you, and he's been treating me poorly, too. He's forcing me to divorce him so he can marry someone else. Don't you think we're in the same boat here?"
"Absolutely." Jimmy nodded fervently.
"So... since we're on the same team, shouldn't we join forces against a common enemy? How about you let me go, and I'll help you figure out how to deal with Everett, okay?"
Selena's tone was soothing, almost like she was talking to a child.
Jimmy had a soft spot for Selena's gentle voice; it nearly made him melt. He was under her spell and started untying her.
But halfway through, he caught himself. His face twisted in anger, and he quickly retied the rope, adding an extra knot for good measure.
He yanked Selena's hair, lifting her face to meet his eyes. "Mrs. Bennett, Everett went to great lengths to avenge you, and you're still trying to fool me?"
"If it weren't for the tangled mess between you three, I wouldn’t have been left with nothing, like a stray dog wounded by my past enemies."
His hands shook as he touched the scar on his face, remembering his two friends who were killed trying to protect him. His face was scarred, and several bones were broken, leaving him nearly incapacitated.
His patience was wearing thin. "Everett, make your choice, or they go down with me!"
Selena held her breath, terrified.
Margot, who had been unconscious, suddenly opened her eyes, pleading with the man in the video.
Everett's gaze flicked to Derick for a moment.
Derick gave him a reassuring 'OK' sign, signaling that everything was set.
Only then did Everett's eyes return to Jimmy. His hand tightened into a fist, and he spoke slowly and deliberately, "Let... Margot go."
