Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 543

"Just think of it like being hugged by a big, fluffy golden retriever."

Selena thought she'd have trouble falling asleep, but the moment she closed her eyes, she unexpectedly drifted off. When she woke up, it was already the next morning. Sunlight streamed through the window, casting warm, golden rays into the room.

Everett was no longer in bed, but little Mateo was lying next to her, his big, beautiful eyes fixed on her without blinking.

Seeing her handsome son first thing in the morning made Selena smile. She gently tapped his tiny nose and laughed, "When did you wake up?"

"Half an hour ago," little Mateo replied obediently.

Propping her head up with her elbow, she chatted with him lazily, "Why didn't you wake Mommy up?"

"He told me not to, said we shouldn't disturb Mommy, and let her sleep."

Little Mateo tilted his head, as if recalling something else, then added, "He said Mommy loves to sleep in, just like a little pig."

Selena chuckled at the first part, but her smile quickly faded at the second.

That man, tarnishing her image in front of their son! In Mateo's eyes, she was always a goddess, not a little pig!

Selena sat up straight, covering her son's ears, and corrected firmly, "Don't listen to that nonsense. Forget about it."

Being a total "Mommy's boy," Mateo nodded seriously, "Mommy, I forgot!"

Selena was startled, "What's wrong, sweetie? Don't cry, is it that you don't want Mommy's breakfast?"

That didn't make sense. Even though her cooking wasn't as good as Ava's, Mateo always loved her breakfasts.

Mateo shook his head, hesitated, then looked up with a pitiful expression and said, "Mommy, are you leaving after breakfast?"

Selena's heart tightened, and she was momentarily speechless.

"Mommy, please don't go," Mateo cried harder, clinging to her, his voice breaking with fear, "I don't want to be someone else's son. I don't want a stepmom."

This confession caught Selena completely off guard, leaving her in shock. What on earth did this mean?
