Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 548

Selena's fingers curled slightly.

Even though their relationship had gotten closer, he should've at least run it by her before making decisions for her. This kind of overstepping made her feel a bit uneasy.

It reminded her of three years ago when Callum kept Everett’s car accident from her, even went as far as to fake that miscarriage report, and during her grandfather's funeral, had someone tell Everett those things.

She understood his intentions were to make Everett back off and stop bothering her, but this approach was too overbearing and extreme. Dr. Campbell was supposed to be a person of integrity and openness.

"Selena, are you upset?"

Callum's face showed a hint of undeniable worry. "I know I rushed things a bit, but I was just scared we'd let our chance slip away again... I know Everett too well. Whatever he sets his sights on, he believes it’s his, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get it, without a second thought."

"If we don’t push back, you and little Mateo will end up stuck with him again. If he truly loved you, that’d be one thing, but... he doesn’t love you, does he? And there are other women around him..."

As he said those careless words, he didn’t notice the change in Selena’s expression.

She was quiet for a while before softly saying, "Dr. Campbell, I know you mean well. I was going to talk to a lawyer about filing for divorce in the next few days anyway. Since you've already lined one up, let's go ahead with it..."

She paused, bit her lower lip, and added, "Just, in the future, let’s talk these things over together, okay?"

Callum smiled with relief, "Okay."

After he left, Ava came over to clear the tea set, muttering as she went.

"Ma'am, Dr. Campbell is usually so thoughtful and considerate, how come this time he's acting so..."

She couldn’t seem to find the right words, finally saying, "Anyway, it just doesn’t seem right."

No, no, no.

Dr. Campbell had been so good to the lady and her son during his years abroad; she had seen it firsthand. She couldn’t think so poorly of him.

She shook off those thoughts and decided not to mention them to the lady.

Around noon, Selena called Everett. She wanted to have lunch with their son and then drop him back.

In the Bennett Corporation’s CEO office.

The man leaned back in his leather chair, his fingers gently tapping on the divorce papers that had just been delivered, his eyes cold.

He spoke with a chilling tone, "Selena, since we’re starting the divorce process, we’re practically almost exes, so it’s not really suitable for us to meet."
