Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 695

At that moment, Alex nudged the door open and stepped inside. Seeing Selena awake at last, Alex felt a wave of relief wash over her. She carried a bowl of oatmeal, carefully approached, and asked with genuine concern, "Hey, how are you feeling?"

Selena blinked at her for a moment, trying to figure out what had happened. Her throat felt raw, like she’d swallowed a bucket of sand. "You had a pretty nasty fever," Alex explained.

The shock, the cold sea breeze, and the overwhelming sadness had worn her out. As soon as she got back, she was knocked out by a high fever and had been out cold for nearly two days.

Alex gently propped Selena up, tucking a pillow behind her back, and set up a small table with the oatmeal in front of her. "Try to eat a little something."

But food was the last thing on Selena’s mind. She suddenly grasped Alex’s hand, her voice urgent, "I’ve been out for two days. What about Everett? Did they find him?"

The question alone brought tears to Alex's eyes, and one fell onto the table with a soft thud. Selena’s hand went slack, and a chill spread through her body, making her shiver uncontrollably.

Alex struggled to find her voice, "No, he hasn’t been found yet. But... we've missed the crucial rescue window. It’s not looking good. I came today because..."

Her words faltered, as if she was piecing them together with sheer will. She took a deep breath, "Mr. Everett wrote a will on his flight here."

A will?

Selena stared at Alex, disbelief etched on her face. "Why would he write a will? Did he think he wouldn’t make it before he even got here? He was just coming to save me. Did he truly believe he wouldn’t survive?"

"How ridiculous!" she exclaimed.

Her gaze was piercing as she looked at Alex, questioning each word, "If Everett really loved me, why did he go out of his way to protect Yasmine?"

Scoffing, she added, "Just for a blood donation? Would he really put our marriage and his relationship with Mateo on the line for that?"

Alex shook her head, sharing everything she knew. "It’s not just about the blood donation. Yasmine saved Mr. Everett’s life when they were kids. He had been searching for her, planning to marry her. But then he fell for you. When he found Yasmine, he made it clear the past was behind them and offered her financial compensation. That time he protected her was the last gesture of his old promise."

Selena was shell-shocked, "What are you talking about?"

The person who saved Everett back then was her, not Yasmine. How could it be Yasmine?
