Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 793

If this had been in the past, those words would have cut Selena to the core. But time had moved on, and so had she. Love? Romance? They were fragile, trivial things. She'd stopped chasing those dreams ages ago.

Selena gave a soft smile. "Joy, it's you who's tangled up in love's web, not me. As long as I'm here, your plans will come to nothing!"

"You don't love Everett at all. You're just using him as a safety net, a way to get back at me. Selena, you're full of schemes now, and someone like you doesn't deserve Everett's protection!"

Selena couldn't be bothered to argue anymore. A lovely afternoon tea shouldn't be wasted on someone like Joy. She finished her cappuccino, paid the bill, and stood up to leave.

Joy didn't stop her this time, just watched Selena walk away with a sly grin. Turning to her friend nearby, she asked, "Did you get it all?"

Her friend nodded eagerly, handing over the phone. "I recorded everything she said."

Joy checked the recording, nodding with satisfaction. She hadn't come here just to bicker with Selena. If she were truly clueless, she would've been out of the game long ago, like Margot before and Yasmine later. Joy was in on a lot more than Selena realized.

She had intentionally come here, knowing Selena would be around. Her provocations were a way to vent her emotions and, of course, capture this recording. Between her and Selena, it was a fight to the finish. She would never lose, so she had to bring Selena down completely!

Joy smirked, picked up her phone, and dialed Carolina. "Auntie, do you have a moment? I'd love to invite you for some afternoon tea."

Everett maintained a firm grip on the situation, allowing the meeting to disperse, but he was tasked with resolving the issue quickly. Alex came in with a tray of coffee, noticing her boss leaning back in his leather chair, tiredly rubbing his temples.

She sighed softly, set the coffee down, and spoke, "Mr. Everett, are you alright?"

Everett's dark eyes opened, his voice a bit rough, "I'm fine."

He picked up the coffee and took a sip just as his phone buzzed. He glanced at the caller ID, and his dark eyes grew even darker.
