Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 806

Everett slammed the car door shut with a loud bang and strode inside, his long legs making quick work of the distance. The living room was a cozy scene of domestic bliss.

Callum was lounging on the sofa, with Mateo nestled close, seeking help with his homework. Haley was perched on Callum's knee, her big, curious eyes darting between him and her brother, eager to join in the chatter. Across from them, Selena sat on the opposite couch, her demeanor calm and gentle as she prepared coffee for the group.

Every now and then, Callum would glance up and exchange a few words with Selena, and their silent understanding often sparked shared smiles. It was as if they were the real family of four.

Everett wasn't worried about Rhett—it was Callum who troubled him. He knew Rhett wasn't a serious threat; Selena wouldn't give him a second thought. But Callum was different. There was history there. If not for Mateo, Selena might have ended up marrying Callum.

Even though Everett and Callum had a bond of brotherhood, their romantic rivalry was undeniable.

"Daddy!" Haley's sharp eyes were the first to spot Everett, and she called out with delight.

Selena instinctively looked up, her smile fading as she met Everett's cold, brooding stare. Everett noticed her change in demeanor, his eyes darkening further. Still, with guests around, he managed to keep his anger in check, putting on a relaxed smile as he casually draped an arm over the back of the sofa behind Selena. His posture was laid-back yet possessive, silently signaling his claim.

Callum, always quick on the uptake, caught on to Everett's message. He greeted him openly, "Everett, it's been ages."

"Yeah, it has. Why didn't you let me know you were back? I could have thrown a little party for you."

Callum replied, "It was a last-minute thing. Josh hasn't been feeling well, so I came back to check on him."

"If that's all it is, why didn't you tell me? If you're inviting him over, I should be here to host. If I hadn't come home today, I wouldn't have even known you met!"

Everett wasn't just jealous; he was envious to the core. He envied how relaxed Selena was around Callum, how she smiled with ease, the kind of atmosphere between them that he longed for but couldn't grasp.

He wished for Selena to be truly happy with him, to smile sincerely, to genuinely want to stay by his side, and one day, to love him enough to build a family together. So, even though he knew there was no romantic tension between Selena and Callum now, he was still angry.

Perhaps it was an unspoken truth—he lacked a sense of security. He constantly feared that Selena would leave him at any moment. And in reality, she was indeed preparing to do so, counting down the days.
