Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 822

Over an hour later, Everett strolled into the clinic. Dr. Stone glanced at the distinguished man in front of him and had a pretty good guess about who he was.

Sure enough, once Everett settled in, he got straight to the point. "I'm Selena's partner." Everett, the wealthiest man in Newport.

Dr. Stone greeted him with respect, "Mr. Everett, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Everett casually tossed a report onto the desk, his long fingers drumming a steady beat on the surface. "I want to know exactly what's going on with Selena and how we can fix it."

Dr. Stone sighed internally. Ms. Selena was quite the catch...

Feigning some hesitation, she replied, "Mr. Everett, as a doctor, I can't just disclose patient information..."

Before she could finish, Everett gave a subtle nod to Alex, who was standing beside him.

Alex immediately handed over a check for five million dollars.

Dr. Stone accepted it with a knowing smile, quickly pulling out and printing all the medical records, passing them to Everett. This included everything Selena had shared during her sessions.

Everett hit play on the recording.

Selena's voice came through, bitter and resigned, filled with struggle and pain. "Six months ago, I was waiting for my partner to come back. Now he's back, but he's not the person I was hoping for."

"I tried to love him again, but he turned into the version of himself I dreaded. I'm scared to love him again, scared of being left behind once more, scared I'll never be his first choice."

"I just want to run away, thinking if I guard my heart, I won't get hurt. But he won't let me. He doesn't love me, yet he keeps asking for my love. Doctor, I'm exhausted, and I really don't know what to do."

She was just a fragile woman, capable of feeling hurt, exhaustion, and sadness, longing for someone strong to lean on.

After a long pause, Everett took a deep breath.

When he finally spoke again, his voice was raspy, "What’s the solution?"

Dr. Stone adjusted her glasses, "Mr. Everett, all psychological problems stem from overthinking. Ms. Selena's situation is a classic case of emotional distress due to unresolved feelings. Medication can only keep it from getting worse, but it can't heal her."

"So, what she needs isn’t medication, but your unwavering presence and support."

"You have two choices: either stay away completely, let her slowly move on—though it's a cliché, time really is the best healer—or offer her unwavering love, ensuring she no longer lives in fear of you leaving her at any moment."
