Selena wrapped her hands around the warm cup, feeling its comforting heat. "Thanks, Alexa," she said with a genuine smile.
Alexa's dark eyes were locked onto the steaming cup of cocoa. Her lips twitched as if she wanted to say something, but she held back. Instead, she simply urged, "Drink it before it gets cold, and try to get some sleep."
"Okay," Selena replied, taking a sip.
Satisfied, Alexa turned and left the study, closing the door softly behind her. Once back in her room, she leaned against the door, tears flowing freely.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

Later that night, Everett quietly entered Moon Bay's bedroom. The small figure on the bed was deep in slumber. He tiptoed closer, relieved to see Selena looking healthier than before, though she was still quite frail.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, he couldn't resist gently caressing her face. Her delicate features seemed even more fragile now, like a porcelain doll he feared he might break with the slightest touch.
His heart ached to scoop her up and protect her, but he knew it wasn't time yet. He had to wait until Selena sorted things out with Joy, until she freed herself from her emotional burdens. Only then could he return to her life and seek her forgiveness.
No matter how angry she might be with him, he was determined to hold on and never let go. Tenderly, he stroked her cheek, but it wasn't enough. He leaned down, his longing too great, and kissed her lips, the ones he'd dreamed of.
A simple kiss was meant to be enough, but it only left him yearning for more. She'd always been irresistible to him.
