Take it one step at a time. After all, they had a lifetime ahead of them.
Everett found it quite amazing that after six years of marriage and two kids with Selena, they were falling in love all over again. And that was a good thing. He didn’t really know how to love, but he figured he could learn. Selena had lost her ability to love, but he was determined to help her rediscover it. Eventually, they'd heal each other and walk hand in hand into the future.
...
Three days later, Selena met up with Abraham in a cozy café's private room. With a laid-back attitude, she handed over the official seals. "I've got what you wanted," she said.
Abraham knew Selena could get the seals, but he was impressed at how quickly she managed it—less than a week. He had tangled with Everett numerous times, and Everett was undeniably sharp and persistent. Everett's second-in-command was nearly as influential as he was. With resources, connections, and strategy, Everett was almost untouchable. In just a few months, he had become a serious threat. Otherwise, Abraham wouldn’t have risked teaming up with Selena.
But this move? It was brilliant. The seemingly tough-as-nails Everett was actually a romantic at heart. Abraham had underestimated Selena's importance in Everett’s life. To him, women were just for fulfilling needs and spicing up life—feelings were okay, but real emotions? Dangerous. Yet, Everett had let himself have this risky flaw.
As Abraham reached for the seals, Selena pulled them back with a smirk. "What’s the deal, Selena?" he asked, eyebrows raised.
She chuckled, "I did what you asked, but you haven't told me anything yet. If you’re just using me, that wouldn’t be fair, would it?"
"Quite the cautious one, aren’t you?" Abraham wasn’t upset; he just took a sip of coffee and smiled. "Once I confirm the seals are legit, I'll share my plan with you."
He motioned to Levi, who opened the door and brought in an expert. "This is a seal verification master. If any seal is fake, he’ll catch it. Selena, I hope you’re being straight with me."
Selena sighed, "If you get that, do you think I don’t? Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan."
Holt was taken aback. "What plan?"
Selena didn’t answer right away. After mulling it over, she turned to Holt, "Set up a meeting for me. There’s someone I need to talk to."
