Mr. Norman, She's Out of Your League Now novel Chapter 7

Charlotte had nothing to say to Brian.

She stared at him calmly and said, "I have nothing else to say to you, Mr. Norman. Or are you hoping for a friendly catch-up? That would be a joke. After all, we have been divorced for six years. I have nothing to reminisce about with my ex-husband."

Brian's chest heaved with fury as she repeatedly addressed him as Mr. Norman.

"Nothing to say, huh? Maybe you don't, but I do. Charlotte, have you forgotten what you did? You filed for divorce without so much as a word and disappeared.

"And then, you pulled that stunt to get back at me. I never thought you would be so cruel to abandon me and our child! Now, you're here saying you have nothing to say to me?" he retorted.

Charlotte froze, stunned by the accusations.

She stared at him in disbelief. "I abandoned my husband and child?"

What the hell was he talking about?

If she remembered correctly, he had said it didn't matter who he married. After that, he had even sent his mother to deliver the divorce papers.

And as for abandoning a child? That was even more ridiculous. Of the two babies she had carried, one had died, and the other had been with her ever since. When had she ever abandoned anything?

Besides, he had never even known she was pregnant.

After some thought, Charlotte snorted. "Brian, are you out of your mind? Wasn't the divorce your idea? And now you have the nerve to blame me?

"Besides, so what even if I had been the one to suggest it first? I was your wife, yet you left me alone for months at a time. Honestly, it was no different from being a widow.

"And you said it yourself, right? It didn't matter who your wife was. Since that was how you felt, divorce was the best choice for both of us. We should both be happy."

Charlotte spoke very bitterly—talking about the past had stirred up a wave of emotions in her.

She shoved hard against his chest, trying to push him away.

"Why don't you get lost already!" she snapped.

Brian did not move an inch. If anything, her words seemed to provoke him even more.

His gaze darkened, and he laughed mockingly.

"No different from being a widow, huh? I had no idea you were so lonely back then. But if I remember correctly, you seemed pretty satisfied every time we finished. You're always clinging onto me afterward and begging for more," he sneered.

Charlotte had not expected him to bring that up.

Furious and humiliated, she snapped, "Shut up! I was not satisfied! You were just average!"

Brian's expression turned stone cold in an instant.

"What did you just say?" he growled, glaring at her.

Charlotte replied sarcastically without care, "I said you were just average. Nothing impressive."

It was a blatant insult, no different from telling a man he was utterly useless. The insult cut deep for someone like Brian, who was extremely proud.

His expression turned icy, and his dark eyes blazed with a fury so strong it seemed as if he might kill her on the spot.

"Just average, huh? Charlotte. Since you are so unimpressed, maybe I should take this opportunity to prove you wrong," he threatened.
