Chapter 158 She Looks Breathtaking
Nathaniel thought, he invites you home so brazenly. Janet, do you know right from wrong or not? How can you be friends with someone
like that?
Nathaniel clenched his fists with a sullen face, wanting to know Janet’s response.
From where Janet was sitting, she couldn’t see Nathaniel.
Nigel bent over slightly, blocked Nathaniel from her sight thoroughly, and whispered in her ear, “I’ll stay busy the next few days, and I’ll live in my office. No one will bother you.”
When he finished speaking, as he expected, he saw Nathaniel’s face getting gloomier.
Janet had no idea what was going on. She lowered her eyes and said flatly, “No need. I will leave when the Convention is over. It will be soon, and it’s a hassle to move around.”
Nigel didn’t say anything.
He thought, do you think that’s what I’m thinking?
Janet, you can be so slowly reacted when it comes to things like this.
No matter how powerful one is, one will still feel a sense of insecurity regarding relationships. I’m just afraid that if I let you know my
feelings for you, I won’t even get to be friends with you.
Nigel lowered his head, and his eyes dimmed a little. “Alright… I know that you are busy. But I still didn’t expect that you wouldn’t even
have the time to stay for a few more days. I thought we could compete for a bit.”
“I’ll entertain you when you come to Raleigh,” Janet smiled.
The colorful lights of the venue shone on her delicate side face, and she looked breathtaking.
After a while, Nigel looked up with a big smile. He said, “Alright then. You say so yourself. It’s a deal then.”
He had no choice. After all, he loved her.
Nigel and Janet were chatting happily. Looking at their backs, Nathaniel had complicated feelings.
He thought, Janet has changed so much.
Her great change catches me off guard.
While Nathaniel was thinking. Janet glanced in his direction. He sat up straight subconsciously, thinking that she wanted to say something, but she simply glanced at him before turning her gaze away.
The competition officially began. Janet wanted to take one last look at her competitors.
The first three projects were the brainchild of small companies. Although they were OK, Janet was not interested. She was waiting for the
big show.
About half an hour later, the three pieces of software had their owners, and it was Nigel’s APP’s turn. As the gold of the Convention, Nigel’s APP attracted many people’s attention, but most of them were just onlookers.
After all, the Webster Group was interested in Nigel’s APP. Given that, the others didn’t think they could have a shot at all.
However, Janet didn’t think so. She figured that at least she should give it a go. Maybe miracles did exist.
Apart from Nathaniel and Janet, two other relatively powerful companies competed as well.
Janet listened attentively to the presenter on the stage. She sometimes frowned and sometimes nodded in agreement. Suddenly, she
heard a chuckle from the side.
Nigel leaned against the back of the chair lazily and had already become unruly again as he always was. “Ms. Longfellow, you look so serious. Are you nervous?”
Janet raised her eyebrows in disagreement and asked, “What do you think? I am fully prepared.”
“I think so, too. Then I will look forward to your performance.”
Nigel liked to see her so high–spirited. He thought, this is the Janet I know.
She is meant for something bigger than some man’s belonging.
This is perfect for her.
After the first two competitors had finished presenting, it was Janet’s turn.
She calmly walked onto the stage and bowed slightly to the audience. Then she gracefully began to elaborate on the Longfellow Group’s views and operational thinking about the short video APP.
“Good morning, organizer and colleagues. I am Janet Longfellow, the president of the Longfellow Group,” she said word by word in a sonorous and powerful voice, making others think of her as a capable person at once.
Janet showed them the slides she had prepared but did not read from the script.
Instead, she went completely off script and faced the people below the stage.
“My vision for this APP will be elaborated from the following three aspects. The first is content creation. To attract users, there must be high–quality content and topics that keep up with current events. We will contact some well–known online celebrities and artists to join the platform. At the same time, we will launch a training and incentive program for emerging online celebrities so that more people can participate in creating short videos and provide more quality content. What’s more, we will enable a review mechanism to strictly control infringement and violation of short videos.”
After that, Janet turned the slide to the next page and said, “These are the artists and others with lots of followers who have signed a letter of intent with the Longfellow Group. We will work with more in the future.”
The list of names surprised those present. Before today, some established artists with lots of fans barely used social media at all, and those present did not expect Janet to manage to work with those artists at all.
Even Nathaniel couldn’t help but turn serious.
He didn’t expect that Janet would think so far regarding this.
